. . . . We put bacon in our grilled cheese sandwiches often. And Tillamook Cheddar, sometimes with a slice of Havarti adds to the flavor of the grilled cheese.
At that point, the only thing missing is the meat. No sense stopping there. :D

Prawn Batter to the consistency of pancake batter (doesn't drip off prawns too readily)
Corn flour mixed with egg
1 tsp Five spice powder (optional...not in orig recipe)
Drop of water if consistency is not right after adding eggs, or add more flour if too thin.
12 ish Tiger-size Prawns de-veined
Deep fry and set aside

Stir fry
Inch piece julienne ginger
2 stalks spring onion/scallion
2 cloves garlic thinly sliced
2/3 chilli (optional, to taste)...I remove the seeds
1/2 tsp Sesame oil
2/3 tsp Any other high flash point oil
2 tbsp Rice wine/white wine
1/2 tbsp Soy sauce

Heat wok 'til starting to smoke
In with veg and move 'til the veg shine
in with the wine until smell disappears
In with prawns halfway through wine process
in with Soy

Very simple. Enjoy!

Broccoli Beef tonight. Difference this time was I marinated the beef for ~6 hours after slicing it thin, in the following:

2t Olive oil
2t Balsamic Vinegar
2t Worscestershire sauce LINK
1t Dijon mustard
1t Minced Garlic

Then went with the rest of the previously shared recipe. Used a little orange bell pepper since it was on hand. OMG good. Took it to another level. Served over steamed white rice.

Broccoli and beef, broccoli and chicken, and a local restaurants specialty: jalapeno chicken. Some of my favorites. On occasion, I make my lazy man version. Broccoli, chicken, rice, and a mixture of Panda Express Kung Pao & Kikkoman's Stir Fry sauce. Not as authentic as Eric's, but still delicious.

Wow you have a filipina that can cook Isaan food? Best of both worlds.
She never used to cook but we both love cooking and she is very keen. My ex in Thailand was a chef.

We generally cook Indian, Thai, Chinese, Japanese, Italian....not much Filipino cuisine and, for Christmas we are having fennel roast pork with Zuppa Toscana (which I believe was inspired by you... :) )

As usual, we've been eating well. For Christmas day dinner we made the Shrimp Étouffée again.

That would go so well with the jambalaya that I have planned for tonight. I'll try to get a pic before it's gone.

I'm glad I could corrupt you give you ideas to use. ;) Shrimp and sausage with chicken and rice? You're half way to a Gumbo! Some trinity and roux and even with the box meal, you're into an new taste profile with great ingredients that you enjoy.
