Greetings!

Like the title states, this was a ride of Firsts for me. I have been in the market for an S-10 and noticed a prime example in Pennsylvania. I made contact with the owner and had a great feeling about the Moto, I decided to attempt the infamous, "Fly and Ride" that o always hear about. Keep in mind I have Never ridden an S-10 before but did do lots of research and decided it could be a nice upgrade to the awesome Vstrom I recently parted with.

My day started on June 25th at 5:30am when I traveled to the Punta Gorda, FL airport and flew out to Allentown, PA. I didn't want to worry about too much luggage so I checked my helmet in and wore my gear on the plane. I had some pretty odd looks from some people.

I arrived in PA around 11am and the S-10 owner met me at the airport to take me back to his home. The transaction went perfect and I can't thank Joe enough for being honest and his kindness to accommodate this ordeal. Around 1pm I had everything ready and I parted ways to begin my first adventure on the S-10.

My new (to me) S-10!

Minutes before departing!

I felt comfortable on the S-10 instantly and never regretted this decision once. I rode through the day and night and didn't have one hiccup. I would consistently refuel every 220 miles and take a stretch on each stop. All together I traveled just over 1300 miles, across eight states, and arrived back in South Florida at 11:30 am on June, 26th.

The joys of Tenere! It does so many things well as you found out in your first 24 hours. Congrats

Gracias mi Amigos!

I've already made some modifications and have a couple more to do before planning next trip! I'm not super impressed with the jerkiness of the throttle at slower speeds but that could just be the tune. I'm gonna try adjusting things and hopefully get her squared away!

I've purchased two S10s - both used with low miles, one gen1 and one gen2. Both bikes felt a little jerky in the beginning.

I found three things that helped and are easy to perform:

1. Air screw adjust and throttle body sync.
2. Check and adjust the play in the throttle cable.
3. Ride, ride, and then ride some more.

I ended up tuning the gen1 after 10k miles and believe it made a HUGE difference. Don't see the need to do anything beyond #3 noted above on the gen2.

Thanks.. i already planned to check the throttle cable and will look into adjusting thei air screw. And I have plenty of riding in the near future.. Key west, deals gap, etc...

The bike came with a, "AV" tune and also has a switch for the CJM. I notice it appears to have smoother throttle with the CJM off but it also appears to cut down on power. Is the tune designed to be used with the CJM on or off?

Thanks again

AC can do a third throttle map for the CJM switch. It seems that the usual route is for T to become something closer to the stock S mode, the new S mode something beyond the stock, and the CJM activated mode becomes something of a hooligan switch. ::26:: Even after nearly 50k I still feel Sport mode is a bit twitchy, and I'm pretty much in S all the time now. You've got three S++ modes.
A nicely equipped bike you got there. ::004::

Thanks and I have the same impressions about sport mode but I have way fewer miles. I have a couple things I'm going to try to combat this issue. My previous DL-1000 wasn't exactly smooth but after some adjustments and modifications it ran as smooth as butter!

Thanks again ::003::
