Anyone interested in a leaf peeper ride in the high country the weekend of Oct 7-9? Perhaps based in Marlinton, WV.

Spkldoe and me were in elevations above the pavement yesterday and the color in places was at about 50% peak.

I'll be riding out of Snowshoe this weekend, with friends from MSTA.

The higher the better as far as leaf color is concerned. I think Snowshoe qualifies! Ride safe and think Williams River Road...best fall ride in the area, maybe in the state.

Ok, maybe this will jog someone into action...Pocahontas County Opera House in Marlinton is hosting Leon Redbone on Sat Oct 8. Any takers?...fall colors all day...Redbone at night...it does not get any better!

spklbuk,

I too will be at Snowshoe this weekend. Here's a thought, if you are in the area why not stop by the Inn at Snowshoe that is on SR66 late afternoon. We could have dinner and get a chance to chat.

Lurker here. I too will be in the area. Up the road apiece at the Brazenhead Inn. Maybe I will see you all somewhere down the road.

Buckeye, I appreciate the invite. I have perhaps a better idea (but I don't know y'alls plan). How about we meet at the Inn on Sunday at whatever time youse and Moby et al plan to depart for OH and we ride west by north west across WV taking in Williams River Road and a few other good backways I just happen to be familiar with along our way generally towards Parkersburg.

We might even be able to convince BlackWV to join in...?

It depends. The wife is on a PC800 and isn't into Dual sport roads. The other fellow in our group is on a BMW sporty somthin or other and is in the same camp. So if we are talking about paved roads of decent quality then that may work. What time would you be willing to head out?

All decent pavement route, no dual sporting, just backways and byways. I have accompanied other folks on FJRs enroute to OH thru the mountains along this same route and no complaints about the quality of the roads...sure beats the main roads. Bladder breaks, hydration and fuel stops included. Route time is not a lot different than traveling main roads.

I live 90 minutes south of Snowshoe. I could be there by 8:30-8:45 a.m. Forecast is for frost Sun morning...right down chilly in the valleys.

That sounds like fun. The forecast doesn't look great for Saturday but would you be able to go then? We don't have to get started at first light. If not Sunday will work for the wife and I, I am not sure about the other's schedules. Either way, thanks for the offer, it will be cool to meet someone from the forum!

Sat in opening day of WVs bow season. Will be hugging a tree or two about 20 feet up and working on the access road (read mule trail) into camp when not hugging trees. But I'm up for Sunday if that'll do. If not, its all good. Just interested in meeting and riding with fellow Tenerians. ::018::

Would 9:00 a.m. work?

That will give me a little more time to dodge the snowflakes  and stop a coupla times to thaw a bit along the way. Slaty Fork forecast went from chilly to downright c~o~l~d.

PM checked and replied to. Since we are so close to the radio observatory, the cell phones don't work. If it gets too cold we can cancel and set something up on another day.

Still headed to Marlinton, WV on Sat morning. All pavement route over the full spectrum of leaf color from past full peak to 20% of peak. Stupendous weather forecast. Spectacular scenery. Lots of backway twisties. Leon Redbone live on an intimate stage on Sat evening.

Everyone welcome. Are y'all really gonna let the FJRers out do ya? ::001::
