Anyone have a factory shop manual yet? Got a part number and/or a good (legal) source?

Not available in the USA yet.....

When they are you can go here to order them directly from Yamaha: http://www.yamahapubs.com/

There are several sites that have the Euro version of the manual posted...which will get you by until the US version is available....

I know of a possible source. I just e-mailed him to see if he has gotten any in yet. I've bought manuals from him in the past for a 1/4 of the price from the dealer.

I went under Google and downloaded the factory (not the owners) manual for the 2010 Tenere months ago. Granted it is for the foreign bike but, it is basically the same machine. Just can't remember where I downloaded it from.

Sitting in front of me on my desk: LIT-11616-25-09. Paid 65 bucks for it last week at the dealer. Took about ten days to get it from Yamaha.

Be advised that since the "diagnostic mode" doesn't "exist" on the US models, there's no mention of the CO adjustment and such. That's OK, we have it here for those that need it.

Also remember grounding the odd pin in the connector of the tip-over sensor under the passenger seat to access the non-existant "diagnostic mode" and adjusting the CO mode.

I have the manual, great as expected, will prove very useful. It would be one tough engine to pull completely apart and reassemble, but I don't expect to have to. If someone needs specific info, PM me and I'll get it to you. Mine is the printed version, which isn't very portable, but easier to take notes on. Nicely sized: about 1.5 inches thick, usual manual 8.5x11 format. Even has a color cover, for those that care about such things.

Highly recommended.

It's great to see someone get a deal for a change. ::012::

I took the LIT-11616-25-09 number to a very small local Yamaha dealer here in BC and asked him to get me a price on the manual. As expected, he got back to me and said the number was no good (not Canadian eh?). Then he asked for my VIN and said he would try again and get back to me. A few days later I get a call saying the manual is in the store and to come by and pick it up. I told him I was looking for a price and didn't actually order the manual, then asked him how much he wanted for it. $156.79 out the door! As I was trying to comprehend this, he added that it was big and heavy. As the saying goes - a fool and his money are soon parted - so the fool went down to the shop and bought the bloody thing. Part number on the colorful front cover is 23P2819770E0. Sometimes I let my impatience get the best of me. ::010::

Obviously I was impressed with this motorcycle or wouldn't have bought it in the first place. But I have to say that after diving into this manual, I have gained a whole new appreciation for the amazing technology and engineering I'm riding around on. As a technologist, I've learned over the years that you can tell a lot about a product by the quality of the technical documentation that goes with it. In this case, the manual is very well executed and compliments the lovely bit of engineering we get to ride around on.

Keep in mind the manual will last as long as the bike if you don't kill it off. Also keep in mind how many that you need to buy. If this were a yearly thing, anything more than 50 bucks would be a lot. I paid 65-70 bucks seven years ago for my FZ's manual, and I thought it was a bargain then, and I think it is a bargain now.

I thought it a very fair price considering the amount of time and effort it can save me. At current shop charges, I'd say it cost me about one hour of labor. I've already spent 5-6 hours looking at and tinkering with the bike. If I need to look something up and NOT read it off of a LCD screen, then it will pay for itself right away.

The quality and detail alone are worth the cost. There's an entire chapter devoted to cable routing. The step by step access instructions are also valuable.

I write software for a living. Part of that means I buy lots and lots of books for crap that I may or may not need to know. Just one little tidbit in a book can save me (and my client) hours of false starts and lost productivity. One factoid in a $50 book can be worth $500 in development time. So spending $150 for a good reference book is money well spent. Especially in this context where an improperly torqued axle nut could equal a trip to the ER.

Hi All just got conntacted by the manual wizard he is selling 2012 Super Tenere XTZ1200 Part# LIT-11616-25-09 manuals that are sealed for $50. Here is his web site http://www.sell.com/26XVXS
Thought I'd bump this thread as I searched and found this link very useful. The shop manuals are now listed for $35 ::008:: I paid for USPS Priority and had the manual within 3 days of order for a total of $41. I'm always a bit leery when something seems to good, but this came through.
