Would love this on mine....
Quick question.
Would it fit mine?
Stock bars, BarkBuster Hand Guard with optional bar end weight, Oxford heated Grips, Armazone-Xstrom

Anyone who has installed it...
Does it use friction against the throttle tube or the rubber grip?
I feel that is where i am going wrong.

Throttle Tube. I have BMW grips (I know, sacrilege!) on mine, and they are shorter than stock, so I have a gap between the grip end and the ETC. I did a 200+ mile loop yesterday around the valley and while I'm still dialing in the amount of drag I want on it, it worked flawlessly.

I don't mean to sound rude in any way, but honestly... The installation is about as simple as it gets. :(

What kind of bars are you using? If not stock, what kind of bar inserts, and what kind of bars? If so, what kind of grips, etc.? What about handguards? A bit more information from your end could help with the troubleshooting...

And have you look at the pictures in this post?

I was involved in the prototype development of the Excel for the S-10, and even the very first developmental one I got went on without a hitch or drama... As did all the different developmental pieces Tom sent me as the design progressed. Sorry you're having trouble.

The end of the throttle control should slide inside your throttle tube. The threaded portion can be threaded in or out to control the gap between the unit and the throttle tube (you want some clearance for thermal expansion). After you reinstall the barend bolt you adjust the star wheel to fine tune the grab of the unit. Did you adjust the star adjuster before you installed it? Maybe that's causing problems.

I got mine installed. Works well, very easy to use and install. This is a very well made piece. Pricey by very high quality, and the ability to adjust on the fly is priceless.

These look great. I spoke to Tom about using the bar end expanders. He said he would custom make me one if I sent him the expanders. The problem is I just don't have schedule before I leave for Texas in ~8 days. I picked up Dallara's old Kaoko from him. Just in the garage and I can tell this thing is finicky. The Excel looks MUCH easier to use while cruising 70+ mph.

I finally got around to installing mine last night. What a fantastic product and Tom was great to do business with.

Pretty amazing piece of kit, isn't it folks? ::008::

It's certainly impressive right out of the box, with all the gorgeous design and precise fabrication that went into it easy to see and feel. But where it really shines is in its operation out on the road. That's when you realize it is simply light-years ahead of any other throttle tensioning device out there.

And has been noted, Tom Dowell is a terrific guy to deal with it. Being involved in the development of the Excel for the Super Tenere has been one of the best experiences of all my years in motorcycling, and that's all because of Tom.

I was hoping to be able to use this awesome product.

Unfortunately, my bars have Vibranators in them with Barkbusters...the Vibranators required removing the end plugs/slugs.

I guess I will go get a cheap throttle lock...

Got home from a great weekend visit with all the lunatic college kids. (Spring football game for the mighty Javelinas of Texas A&M Kingsville.

Surprise package on the counter from Tom.

I was a bit concerned in its compatibility with my Flex bars with the aftermarket bar inserts, but the clever design of the throttle controls threaded "lengthener" quickly revealed the folly of my worry. :)

5 minute install. Works exactly like the video. Nice kit. 1-3 clicks of the star separates from moderately locked to locked with some authority.
Impressive.

I see what all the praise is about. My Tenere just keeps getting better.

After messing around and testing subtle changes, I found I like it tilted forward as far as it will go without the lock-ball hitting the hand guard.
Allows the smallest amount of movement to engage\disengage.

And like changing your golf grip, after a while, it becomes natural.
