Hello Folks,

MY name is John Ilkiw, and I am the Motorcycle products representative for Elka Suspension. I want to first of all thank the forum administration for allowing me to be on this forum to share information on our products, and to also let you know that after some market demand, we have now a rear shock absorber available for the Super Tenere.

With this in mind, we will be offering a group buy rebate for the new Elka Stage 5 shock ( our first official Stage 5 motorcycle offering) for all members on the board.

The Stage 5 technology features a light weight aluminum body, and comes with a remote reservoir with high and low speed compression adjustment, as well as rebound and a hydraulic preload adjuster.

The shock normally retails for $1195, but with the limited time offer group buy, the shock is available for $995 + shipping to your door. The group buy will be open until Friday June 20th, so act fast to benefit from this offer !!

A post was started by the member who lent us his bike for R&D, and can be found here:

Thanks for the group buy discount! Very tempting... I'll probably be jumping on this closer to the 20th.

Looking at the other thread.... the remote adjuster is mounted with hose clamps??? Would have expected a cleaner install for a grand...

John,

I am in the market for a new shock and am interested in this. Can you post up more pics of the production ready shock?

Not too thrilled about the red spring, can you make it in yellow like the stock shock? White would be alright as well.

Thanks.

::005:: Bad Super Ten owner, BAD! Go get your bike dirty.
;)
Are you really suggesting that the color of the spring is an important facet of a $1000 suspension upgrade? ::)

The spring suppliers that we work ( Eibach and Hyperco) only offer red or blue.

Cool, I may be in on this. A few Questions:

Is the ride height (shock length) adjustable?

If I were to order now, would the shock be shipped out immediately or would I have to wait until the end of the group buy?

Also, a shipping estimate? Haven't had anything shipped from Canada recently.

Thanks.

Hey man, if your going to drop $1000 - $1300 it never hurts to ask...

I've been toiling forever over Penske and Ohlins. With this option in the group buy I could get a Triple Clicker like the Penske with the hydraulic adjuster like the Ohlins for the price of the Double Clicker Penske...

Color me intrigued!

On the web site it says the shock is a Stage 5, but I couldn't find any details on what Stage 5 means - all I could find was up to Stage 4...any details on this?

Just re-affirming my interest. Some good questions asked, so I'll be checking back for the answers.

Nice pictures but not much info on the site.

(The timing sucks for me though as I'm leaving for California on 19th June.)

Also it was SpaceTraveler's bike they did the development work on - I only started the other thread.

When I'm paying a grand, definitely. Not a fan of red to begin with and in this application it reminds me of the cheap shocks that came on many Japanese bikes that I've owned.

Blue would work if it's an option. ::008::

Have seen your site, great photos of the install on Space Traveler's bike but some simple pics of the production shocks themselves would be much appreciated.

Red is Eibach, Blue is Hyperco. I re-sprung my oem shock with a Hyperco. (mostly because Eibach didn't stock the weight I wanted at that time) Both are located in California, not far from each other, IIRC.

Is the Elka Stage 5 shock the same emulsion type shock as the presumably lower stage Elka shocks?

Eibach is in California, but the home base for Hyperco is in Mississippi. Hyperco does have distributors all over the country, though.

Just FYI...

Can we order the shock with different spring rate to match rider weight/needs?
All of our shocks are custom built and sprung according to riders weight. We do need this information at the time of the order.

Some answers from Elka ...

Exactly what does stage 5 mean?

>Stage 5 is simply a name we gave the product so it follows the rest of our product line. The shock offer the same adjustability as the Stage 4 ( hi/lo speed compression, rebound, and preload), but the compression cartridge is a newer technology that provides more flow through the compression adjuster.

Do units ship as ordered or only at the end of the group buy period?

>No. You can place your order when you want as long as its within the time frame it is offered.

Is there a better solution to the hose clamps?

<There can be, but it would be a billet clamp system that would increase the price by $150 or so…

Is the ride height adjustable?

>The ride height is only adjustable through the preload.

>I hope this helps, and do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
