Yeah, I'm not sure. Who wants to jump on their bike and test this and report back? ;D

Huh - I seem to recall my old R90/6 would do almost 90 in 3rd - I thought the S10 with almost double the power would at least crack a ton. Then again, the beemer was 5-speed box.

Quick check! Here you go
http://www.beemergarage.com/documents/r90rt3.pdf

Old Cycle World test from 1974. Funny to see that they were as excited as I was - got mine January '75. Anyway, getting off track. According to the test, the Beemer would do 85 in 3rd.

yeah granted but its not a revvy in line four motor, a 1200 twin short shifting very quickly through the shorter gears, and tops out about 135-140, and mine with the same mods/ set up as blue eyes, i can tell you it gets there alot quicker than your bmw ::022:: im not bubbling over am i ::025::

OK, I've just returned from my tuner to make a base map for the Diapason ECU.

My bike's mod's are (if you don't already know this...): Diapason ECU, Arrows headers, Akrapovic slip-on, K&N airfilter, PC V with Autotune and O2 Optimizer.

So, what are the values and what does the dyno graph look like:

The lower graph is without the Diapason ECU and without the Arrow headers.

Results with Diapason ECU and Arrow headers: 107 RearWheel HP, 115Nm with over 100 Nm from almost idle to the redline...

We had some issues with the pickup of the rpm signal, access to the sparkplugcaps is very resticted, that is why you see the spikes at the higher rpm's, and why the X-axes is in km/h instead of rpm's.

Was I exaggerating when I posted my impressions after the first ride with the Diapason flash... I don't think so. The bike is a rocketship. Next week a new rear tire will be fitted, this one is wasted after 7000 kilometers (4500 miles)....
For inquiring minds: 115Nm = 84.82 ft.lbs. torque
107Din = 105.33 Sae HP

Still rather impressive!

DynoJet S10 Reference:
Stock + Akrapovic 78.03 ft.lbs. Torque
90.73 Sae HP

Hi there!
Just got my brand new XT1200 from the dealer! After riding a unplugged XT1200 with the ECU flash, I decied to do the flash. Asking my Yammi dealer he told me that in the moment he can not do the 2012 model... I think he sends ECU to Parma in Italy, because he told me it takes about 4 weeks.... :'(
On the webpage from OFF-THE-ROAD I found, that they also offer the flash for the 2012 model!! :) Price without german tax approx. 380 euro including the shipping.
http://www.off-the-road.de/XT-1200-Z/Electric/ECU-Remapping-XT1200Z.html
Also I have heard from a another dealer, that the flash from the italians is MUCH TOO LEAN ??? in the lower gears! Maybe I can get an A/F graph that shows this.
Also I have heard, that the ECU flash in Italy sometimes takes up to 2 month :mad:
Does anyone have further information about all this?

Greets,
PP

Review this thread with attention to the AFR measurements at the bottom of the dyno graphs:

Welcome to the forum..

I think you may have been given some bad info from your dealer.
If you do a search for dyno graph or a variance of that, it would be quicker than reading 114 page thread. Although there is a lot of good info besides the graphs.

If you send the ECU to Italy Via fast, traceable means, there's no way it takes anywhere near 2 months. About 2 weeks is more like it. As far as the Italian flash being 'much too lean,' there is no info to prove or disprove that. All tests and evaluations have been done with a full exhaust system, PC/AT, so any possible lean condition would be totally masked. Blue Eyes might have some before and after PC maps that should provide some telling info.

See this graph! I got it from a german company. It shows the stock bike with an italian made ECU. It is definetly too lean in lower revs, and I think you have to use a power commander with this ECU mod.
Can somebody affirm this?

Now the scare marketing begins. Wonder what weaknesses Diapason will show with off-the-road.de flash in the near future? Can someone qualify "too lean" in relation to those charts and what I'll effects this might have if any?

This is WOT at low revs, typically not a common scenario, and you are only gonna be there for a second or two even if you do open it right up.

I would be more concerned about how it is at 20% throttle and 4,000 rpm (or whatever works out at a typical cruising speed) - then again I assume this would be closed loop. Or when at high rpm in higher gears as this can be maintained for a significant period.

Also does whoever produced this graph have a vested interest?

On a stock the numbers do run a little high in the beginning but drop like the graph you posted.
Also the beginning is an anomaly I think.

The engine is very comfortable with those numbers, again in my opinion.

Each engine is different and some may run a little leaner than others. But If you look at an AFR chart the dotted line is at 13.6. That is what most manufactures like to run, with variances.

To damage the engine it would need to run at 15 all the time.

Someone is trying a marketing ploy and scare tactics.

::026::

The start of the graph is not correct, they made a bad graph. Poor sods.. What a pityful way to fight competition... ::007::

Diapason makes a great ECU, there are no reports whasoever about issues with the Diapason ECU, on otherwise stock bikes, or heavily modded bikes like mine and Spasm's.

A PC V is only required if you change the headers to catless headers like the Arrows one. Just changing the slip-on does not require a PC V.

As can be read in this topic, door2door turnaround time in Europe is approx 14 days.

And 111 rearwheel HP....'Yes please' ! ::012:: ::012:: ::012::

That just isn't necessarily so...

My re-flash from ECUnleashed was written specifically for use with a set of Arrow headers and no catalytic converter.

Did I miss your impressions of the upgrade in all these posts?

I remember you saying you were doing this and I'd been thinking about the same thing...maybe. Just remember to preface it with "In MY OPINION" and nobody should get uptight about it :D
