I went through mentioned here tires , but couldn't find compound type in the descriptions on the seller websites.Tire threads are almost as bad as oil threads. Too many variables; rider, roads, weather, etc. But most, if not all, of the top 90/10 tires are dual compound. Myself, and several others on here are still trying to find our "goldilocks" tire. The one that provides a good combo of traction and service life.
If I could find them, I would use them. Apparently, it depends on where you are, as to how available they are. (Yamaha is still using them as OE) It's a good road tire for the price. What do you guys think about the OEM Battlewing? . . . .
Looks like they are readily available from AMT in the proper "E" Spec for S10s:If I could find them, I would use them. Apparently, it depends on where you are, as to how available they are. (Yamaha is still using them as OE) It's a good road tire for the price.
There are a lot of variables when it comes to rear tires on a big bike like the S10.Is 6500 a common mileage you can get out of them?
Last time I looked AZ is somewhat close to TX....I'm guessing that my dealership doesn't use them as a vendor. I trust my dealer, and they can't get them. What's the physical difference between the E spec, and the G? G is $32 less.
Yeah, that's what I would think too, but on the web site, the speed and load rating were the same for both specs.. . . . The E spec refers to load rating I think.
Maybe a "ply" rating?Yeah, that's what I would think too, but on the web site, the speed and load rating were the same for both specs.
It looks a bit squared off, seems like the original owner accelerated after turns not in the exits. It was his first bike btw. There are a lot of variables when it comes to rear tires on a big bike like the S10.
Are they worn evenly or squared off just in the middle?
*The tire does not appear to be squared off in the pic.
Definitely not bad for those miles. Mine was much more squared off from down shifting too early. My next set of tires lasted much better once I learned how to ride the Tenere. It looks a bit squared off, seems like the original owner accelerated after turns not in the exits.
