Guys, can anyone please recommend a dual compound Rear Tire for S10? Ideally it should be something like 90/10 - 80/20.
And in general, what are your thoughts on duals for this type of bike.
Thank you.

Tire threads are almost as bad as oil threads. Too many variables; rider, roads, weather, etc. But most, if not all, of the top 90/10 tires are dual compound. Myself, and several others on here are still trying to find our "goldilocks" tire. The one that provides a good combo of traction and service life.

I went through mentioned here tires , but couldn't find compound type in the descriptions on the seller websites.

This is off of the Bridgestone website. This is the A41. This is just an example. Check different manufacturers, they'll have similar information.

The Anakee Adventure rear (and I believe the front as well) are dual compound. Michelin classifies them as 80/20.

What do you guys think about the OEM Battlewing? When I bought my S10 the rear tire was already worn at 6500 miles, so I didn't have a chance to get much experience with it.

If I could find them, I would use them. Apparently, it depends on where you are, as to how available they are. (Yamaha is still using them as OE) It's a good road tire for the price.

I'm guessing that my dealership doesn't use them as a vendor. I trust my dealer, and they can't get them. What's the physical difference between the E spec, and the G? G is $32 less.

Looks like they are readily available from AMT in the proper "E" Spec for S10s:
FWIW I have bought many tires from AMT with nothing but positive experiences.

Is 6500 a common mileage you can get out of them?
There are a lot of variables when it comes to rear tires on a big bike like the S10.
Are they worn evenly or squared off just in the middle?
*The tire does not appear to be squared off in the pic.

That's probably on the low side. When I first got my bike, I had to learn how to ride the Tenere. I killed my rear tire at about that mileage, but it was in much worse shape. She doesn't like to be downshifted like an average I-4 motor, and you don't have to use rear brake pedal much either.

Last time I looked AZ is somewhat close to TX....
The E spec refers to load rating I think.

It looks a bit squared off, seems like the original owner accelerated after turns not in the exits. It was his first bike btw.

Definitely not bad for those miles. Mine was much more squared off from down shifting too early. My next set of tires lasted much better once I learned how to ride the Tenere.
