Compared to what helmet? The Multitec is lighter than most, including the C3. I totally understand if you're comparing it to some of the carbon fiber full face helmets now available.
Not familar with weight of other modulars, but I recall this review in WebBikeWorld that said, "Our size XL Multitec weighs 1786 grams (3 lbs., 15 oz.). This puts it towards the heavy end of the modular helmet weight chart, based on all of the helmets we've reviewed. The Multitec's mass is noticeable when wearing it, although it seems to be well balanced. Modular helmets can be heavier than their full-face counterparts, and I'm assuming the metal latching mechanism may contribute to the mass of the Multitec."

I do know it is significantly heavier than five other helmets I have in my garage and none are anything exotic or carbon fiber.

SHARP says the Multitech weighs 1.48kg (3 lbs., 4 oz) and the chin bar stayed closed in 83% of impacts. They gave it a 3 star rating.

I guess it depends on which five helmets you have. Not sure that's an apples to apples comment is all.

I didn't purport it to be an "apples to apples" comment or that I was an authority on helmet weight. I'm just relating my experience. If you've got data that the Multitec is ligher than most, let's have it.

Don't get pissy with me Mark. You failed to even mention what helmets you were comparing to.

From the Sharp testing results, because all data is at least from the same site for comparative purposes:
http://sharp.direct.gov.uk/testhelmetlist?sharp-make=All&sharp-model=&sharp-type=3&sharp-rating=1&sharp-price-from=0&sharp-price-to=9999&discontinued=1

Caberg Jusstissimo 1.76 Kg
BMW System 5 1.76
BMW System 6 1.60
HJC FS Max 1.75
HJC IS Max 1.80
Nolan 102 1.77
Nolan 103 1.85
Schuberth C2 1.78
Schuberth C3 1.60
Shark Evoline 1.92
Shoei Multitec 1.48

I limited my results to the helmets we can get in the US.

Now do your homework and look up the five helmets you have in the garage and post that info. I wouldn't be surprised if some of them are listed as heavier than the Multitec.

Back at you Eric. I was just posting my general impressions and were not saying they were anything more.

Let's drop it.

I honestly am interested in what helmets you are comparing your impressions to. I would appreciated it you shared that info.

I cannot stress enough the importance of doing a roll-of test and if you are wearing a modular helmet, do the test with the chinbar open. The HJC modulars have a higher rate of failing the roll-off test. These results are from classroom tests performed by an MSF instructor friend using students helmets of many brands.

Click on any of the above for the WbW review for a particular helmet. There are only a few people involved, it's really gotten to be an almost routine process, and Rick really tries to make these "apples to apples." (Disclaimer is that I do some WbW reviews, generally not of helmets.)

I won't endorse or slag anything here, but something I have learned in looking at the flips is to see how solid the structure is that the mechanism attaches to, if the mechanism is metal, and if you can get one side to latch without the other side.

Hi. I have Nolan N90 and it is good helmet. It is a litlle bit noisy. Good vents. Sun screen is inside and it is good, but I use it only when sunlight hits me hard, since it has visor with fog insert in front, so it is not best view you can get. On top of that sun screen got scratched from opening and closing. Cheers.

John, I have 2 modulars that I use,
I prefer the Shark Evoline 2 for its fit, comfort and the way that the chinbar rotates completely open. The other one is a Shoei Multitec I prefer in conditions that would cause fogging, I have a pinlock fog shield that will interchange with my Shoei RF1000 fullface helmet that I use for more sporty day rides on my Bandit.

Re: Do you wear a 'flip up type' modular helmet ? What brand ?

I don't own a flip up or modular as most of them fit a round-shaped head. That just changed with the new, oval-shape design offered by Vemar. Web Bike World gave the new lid a good review, so I might just give it a try.

Currently have Caberg Justissimo modular helmet with built in flip down sun visor. Love it, has served me well and endured many years of abuse (ride everyday, all weather). Love the flip front as I wear glasses and dont have to remove them when putting on/taking off helmet. Also will not buy another helmet without internal sun visor, very handy. Will need new helmet though to go with the new S10 and will probably buy the new Shoei Neotec when it is available in the U.S. Have had many Shoei helmets and all have been great.

A little foam in the speaker pockets helps some. Great helmet at these prices although I wouldn't be happy if I paid MSRP. Hopefully low prices indicate a update to fix some of the quality and noise issues ( I want a Shoei killer). I do love the convenience of this type of helmet.

What is a roll-off test??

BTW, went from a Nolan to a C2 and now back to a Nolan 103. The Scheuberth was nice but not that much nicer to justify the coin IMHO.

You can do a Google search and get a better explanation but basicly you put the helmet on your head and buckle the chin strap, now with your elbow pointed up cup your hand and grab under the rear edge of the helmet and try to roll it off your head. If you're doing this with a modular helmet, do it with the chinbar open, as is it possible for them to release and open in an accident. A properly fitting helmet should not roll off your head. The HJC modulars, even when they seem to fit a head properly, have a history of failing the roll-off test.

The wife and I are using the new Bell Revolvers. A little on the noisy side but over all we like it and all of the functions of this helmet.
I bought one for my wife on Amazon for 100$ shipped to Croatia.
Can you tell me little bit more about it? Is the visor antifog itself or it's pinlock system? Are the interiors comfortable? Any issues with i ternal visor??
I'am thinking to buy myself one without trying it. I use Arai rx7 in medium size. What size do you use, and can you compare the fit with Arai perhaps?
Your help is much appreciated.
