So how many of you came off a Harley touring bike to join the Tenere fold? Did you get rid of the Harley? Would you ever go back now? I have been bike-less for about a year now and my last bike was a 06 Harley Street Glide. Beautiful machine and I got all the ooh's and ahh's out of it but I got pretty bored after a while coming from a dirt bike and sport bike background. I'm just testing the waters to see if this might be the right bike that will keep me entertained for years to come. I would like to hear you stories as well.

While I did not have a Harley previously, I did trade a Vulcan 1700 Voyager with all the bells and whistles for my Tenere'. I am now on my second Tenere' and never looked back or longed for anything the Voyager had to offer. It was a great full on touring rig that looked and ran great but just got boring to me after a while. I have never been bored on the Tenere'. So much more versatile and every bit as comfortable after a few minor comfort farkles. Go test ride one. You will most likely love it. Admittedly, you don't get to be part of the Harley clique, but who cares about that ;)

No Harley, but I did divorce a Honda Goldwing 2012. Had both bikes for awhile, but Goldwing got jealous of being left in garage too much, so had to set her free....... Totally enjoy the S10, best all around ride I have ever owned, and have had quite a few..... ::008::

In a round about way, yes.
My first Harley was a 1998 Electra Glide cop bike I bought in 2004. I rode the wheels off that thing for a year. Then I bought a 2006 street glide and put 90K on it in 3 years. It was my primary transport as well as recreation. I sold it and had a Triumph ST for a while. That bike ticked all the boxes, it was fast, sounded great and handled well....but I just didn't love it. I grew up on Yamaha's and had a V-Star 1100 for a while, so I tried a RoadStar. I grafted Harley Road King bags onto it and I was happy with it until I also bought a KLR. Then I got the dual sport itch. I was sitting in my shop one day and looked a the Road Star and the KLR and though, If I could just combine the distance capability of the Star with the off road usefulness of the KLR...

Now, 9 months later, I am totally in love with the ST. It is the best bike I have ever owned.

After months of researching sport adventures bikes I pre-ordered a 2012 Super "T" and decided that I would ride it and my 2006 HD Electric Glide Classic (that I purchased in 2008 with only 400 miles on it) for one year and then decide which one to keep. Well, I put more miles in one year on the ST than I did in five years riding the HD. That says it all! Sold the HD and don't miss it one bit. My wife says that the ST is more comfortable and she enjoys the more active riding.

I am on my 11th Harley. It is a 2007 street glide. I have built customs and modified plenty of Harleys over the years and have had quite a big shop, now a smaller one. (bike shop). Coming from South Africa I grew up on dirtbikes and decided to get a GSA. After looking around and reading reports of the big dualsports I ended up with a 2012 Tenere and have pretty much done everything I can to it. Since owning it, I have ridden my Harley once and that was to take my Tenere's computer to the post office. Most of my riding buddies are Harley riders and they used to rag me for riding a jap bike, but that is starting to change. I refer this bike to the Utility Knife of bikes and when the right offer for the Harley comes along it will be gone. The Tenere does everything I want from a bike and I do ride it hard.

Had a 2007 Road King. Like the guy above, after 45,000 miles I got bored, I think because I had to stick to the same "good" roads all of the time. The bike for those roads. The S10 opened up a bunch of new options for travel both locally and on trips on & off road. Tours just fine and it's nice riding a bike that's 225 lb. lighter.

Interesting progression of bikes. Had I started off years ago I could see myself doing the same, however I went DL 650/DR 650 now the Tenere and I'm completely smitten. Everyone I work with has a Harley, and I hear all kinds of crap, but while theirs are all parked for the season I can't can't seem to put mine away. Love this motorcycle!

I had a 2001 Yamaha Road Star dressed out with saddlebags and windshield, but I just hated the riding position. I just cannot seem to get comfortable on a cruiser type motorcycle. Once I got my 2008 KLR 650, the cruiser just did not get ridden, so I traded it and the KLR in on the ST in 2012.

I think if I lived back east or some place where every road was paved, I would be more open to owning a street bike, probably a sport touring bike. But here in New Mexico, most of the roads are dirt, and they are significantly more interesting than pavement. Street riding absolutely bores me to death now. I have my Super Tenere and a DRz 400, and I am mighty happy now.

I still have my Road King find it much more comfortable for two-up touring than the S10, so will likely keep it.

Of course, the Tenere is more fun for rides that involve a lot of aggressive twisty strafing and dirt.

Horses for courses as they say....

Yes, 2 fully worked bikes. A 2000 Road King and a 2004 Road Glide. Sold them both for a loss, bought a Wee Strom and then moved to the S10. Best move I made. Opened up new worlds of enjoyment and spending money.

Yup, I left the HD world for the Ténéré.. Living here in Milwaukee makes me the red headed step child of the bunch but I'm fine with that. All my riding buddies are all on Harleys and when they start to talk too much smack about my tall ugly bike I quickly ask them what the stock horsepower is and remind them of mine and then ad the comfort and versatility of the Ténéré. It's simple. ... the Ténéré is a great bike. I haven't looked back and second guessed my decision going to the Ténéré from my Harley touring bike.

Got rid of my Tour Deluxe (last winters bike) to make way for the Ténéré. However if 2 up the wife wants the Stratoliner with the wrap around trunk.

Wife says that the number of MC (M) and number of wives (W) must follow the formula where M +W <= 3. When I sold the Tour Deluxe I was down to 2. Asked if I could get a new wife, but she thought (forcefully) that I should get the Ténéré! Did not even get to test ride a new wife candidate! Did test ride the Ténéré over to the Triumph dealer where I tested the 1215. Bought the Ténéré the following week.

First Super Tenere I ever saw was at the Harley dealer in '12. Salesman just bought it new at the Yamaha dealer 60 miles away and got off smiling ear to ear. Told me it was the best bike he ever sat on! I have owned several Harleys over 40 years of riding, my last one was a '12 RoadKing Police. Nice bike no complaints, don't own it anymore. I've owned about 20 different bikes of all types over the last 8 years and the S10 is the one that stuck. I just love riding it. It is the bike that is a keeper. It does it all and it does it well. Cannot say enough good things about it. In fact I was so impressed with the bike I've bought 3 other Yamahas to keep it company. I will admit the bike has changed my riding quite a bit. Before the S10 I never wandered down little backroads just to see what was there. Now I do it all the time and think its a blast.
