Did you divorce your harley for your new Tenere mistress?

I owned a few harley's over the years ( road king, street glide, road glide). Then in 2012 I bought a Tenere. Best bike I had ever owned at that time. I still kept my road king around though for riding two up and long trips. When the new refined 14 Tenere came out it addressed all the small issues I had with the bike. It really is a do everything motorcycle and I sold the road king. I dont miss it a bit.

Close, I came to the Tenere from a Victory Hammer (1634cc)

Had my mind and wallet set on a BMW GSA (watching long way round and long way down LoL)

I test rode the BMW and had rented a Triumph Tiger Explorer for a weekend, then on a whim one day saw the Tenere at the dealer, took it for a ride and there was no looking back.

I miss the Hammer sometimes, it was a fun bike, but for my riding preferences and rides I enjoy, the Tenere is the best all-around fit

The HD Street Glide and S10 are REALLY tow totally different machines! One is a laidback touring cruiser and the other an Adventure Tourer, different feels. I have a 2010 GL1800, so when I want to ride two up or solo on long rides I take the Goldwing, when I commute to work or teach I take the S10.

I would say, take a test ride to find out if you like the Adventure Tourer style......

As you can tell from my profile picture, I still have the 2005 FLHRCI in the garage, and she is the prettier bike. But I wanted to do dirt roads, and no more scraping floor boards. Love the Tenere, and probably need to sell the Harley, but I may keep my Harley Jackets, just to attract some smack, and they fit like gloves.

I purchased a 1988 FXR Super Glide in 88. The extended warranty cost the same then as the Tenere does now. I needed the extended warranty on the FXR starting the first few months. I have yet to use it on the 2012 Tenere. The warranty work for general maintenance on the FXR the first year was nearly $1,000.00. I was rebuilding the FXR in 2006 after letting it set for fifteen years, overseas deployments with USMC. During the rebuild time I purchased a KLR650, was also staring to ride again after a fifteen year gap. Even after getting the FXR completed the KLR was the bike of choice. New girlfriend preferred the KLR, did not like the FXR. New girlfriend and two up riding concerns soon made the KLR inadequate. Was going to go the BMW route until a friend turned me on to the Tenere, traded the KLR in on the Tenere. Knew within a few miles I had made the best choice possible. After riding the Tenere, the FXR with 1988 technology, did not feel safe. So I traded the FXR in on a 2013 FJR 1300. Now I am one happy camper.

Chopped in my Harley 883R for my first of two Triumphs, an Explorer. What a major Fu*k up that was.
Yup and if resale on them in the UK is any thing like in the US there's no getting out. I would love to trade my Explorer for a second S10 but I've given up asking dealers about trading it in. KTM dealer politely told me, "no we aren't interested in taking it in trade".

Yes donk, I had similar problems. I had already made complaints to T in Hinckley so I just kept escalating. In the end I got as far as Nick Bloor, one of his guys then offered to give me a new Tex which i politelt declined the offer as I had lost all confidence in the bike after the TPS cut out whilst in front of Traffic. He then offered me a Tiger Sport loaded with about 2K of extras. I went for this deal as the Tiger Sport i thought would be more salable when the time came. Anyway a big tit in big T informed me that the new bike would have to come from the same dealer ship & yes they managed to F*ck up the 2nd new bike too. I got it home with 61 miles on the clock, put it in the garage as it was about 7PM pitch black & about to snow. The next morning I cleaned yhr bike then fired it up, it sounded like two skeletons shagging on a garbage tin lid, the jerk of a Service manager hadnt checked to see if there was any oil in the engine, the dip stick (no sight glass on 1050) was bone dry. THe time t sell came much sooner that expected once Triumph Hinckley fitted a new engine for me. For any UK Triumph fans reading this the Triumph Dealership was NOT in staffordshire. It is in Chesterfield, be warned.

So far i`m chuffed to bits with my S10 & the dealer performance although that said its early days, I have however used this dealership before & have plenty of confidence in them.

No, Never owned a HD and probably never will. Just not into cruisers and the lifestyle/look that usually accompanies it but to each their own. Just about every friend I ride with rides a HD. I nicked named them the Village People...they call me Buzz Light Year.... :)). I joke with them that I am allergic to chrome. One of my good friends who currently rides a Road King cut his teeth on dirt bikes and we have gone on a few rides with him riding my KLR. He is a really good dirt bike rider.....far better than I will ever be.. However he sees the limitations of his Road King and when the right FJR comes along he is gonna switch I bet.

The only Harley that ever looked interesting to me was the V-Rod. Not a "buy it" kind of interesting, but more of a, "okay, I kinda understand that one" level of interesting.

The electric prototype they took around last summer seemed like it could become interesting some day. I suspect it would be an expensive short range toy, but it's a different direction for Harley and that could open up the future to something that I could someday consider some future offering from them.

the Vrod and Electric bikes were designed by folks outside of HD might be why you say that....

but I refute your assertion that the only Harley that ever looked interesting were those when THIS exists:

As a kid I did admire Evil, but I do remember not understanding why he was on a Harley. I was a bit of a punk and remembered going to the local fair to laugh at the AMF Harleys. My buddy (now a Lt in the NY State Police) would joke how if we could get our hands on one of those things we'd ride it in 1st gear as hard as we could until it blew up. Oh we thought we were funny.

I have managed to own one Harley. The XR had a cool factor about it and was fun to ride short distances on.

Evil rode a Harley because they sponsored him. He rode Triumphs prior to being sponsored by HD.

Closest I came to owning an HD was a couple RoadStars that were great bikes.
I know two guys who bought new Street Glides and they are telling me not to go there.
TOO damn expensive. (seriously) For what you get, no thanks.
That's a damn expensive club to join, I'll hold off for now.
