) Yep, sure did..
The more I look at this set up, the more I like it.2XADV said:I received a reply from Deon and 3 more pictures. See my email and his reply below:
My email:
"Deon,
After looking at those pictures, although it looks like a sturdy roll-cage design, the upper bars are too close to the side cover at several points. Even a drop in soft dirt will flex the bars in a little bit and they will hit the side-covers. If they had more space they might be something I would be interested in purchasing, but right now they look too close to (or touching) the bodywork.
Over and above that, the right side cover needs to be removable to access the toolkit and battery, so there needs to be enough clearance to permit that.
The left side cover needs to have the same amount of clearance. With that clearance shown in the pics it will not be removable because of its shape and the radiator behind it, but it has to have enough clearance to allow the cover to be moved a little for accessing the fasteners to loosen the tank for simple maintenance access.
Overall good coverage of parts, but these points need to be addressed.
Other questions:
Do you have any close-up pictures of the fasteners/joint where the top-half attached to the bottom half of the crash bars?
Also do you have any pics from underneath?
How much does the ground clearance change with this bash plate?
Deon's reply:
Thanks for your feed back on our product. We realized this problem and we have opened the wing sections on the crash bar by 15mm. I am not sure about the pics you saw, if that have been modified on those as well. You can access your toolkit as well as your pressure cap on the radiator by loosening the side panels only, but for the rest you have to take off the main crash bar (5-8minutes). The wing sections have a mounting directly to the frame of the bike in order to protect the bike from a side impact / fall.
I don’t have pics form underneath yet.
Ground clearance change by approximately 10mm
Regards
Deon
Yeah, me, too. And it is resfreshing to see how these manufacturers respond so quickly to comsumer input. Some of the ones that participate on this forum, like these guys, are actually listening to our input and making adjustments, in some cases, big adjustments, to their products. Nice going guys.vnp514 said:The more I look at this set up, the more I like it.

Looking forward to your report!!!!!Yahmy said:so crashbars can now be installed. I will have to install it before my trip through Botswana next month. Will give you some feedback on the whole setup once installed.
Well, that's a deal breaker for me.... ??? Back to the drawing board. Might have to take the OldGitRay route.......Koinz said:Guys, I received an email from the vendor a week or so ago. Unfortunately, way more than Im willing to pay. I'm not sure, but the cost of
shipping might be inflating the price significantly from S Africa.
"I hope you are still interested in our product. The product is estimated at
$ 1200 US dollar all included door to door. You must find out what the cost
of customs will be at your side."
Ouch!!!Koinz said:The product is estimated at $ 1200 US dollar all included door to door.
I did see this on one of the Euro bikes ( I think....). Just can't remember where I saw it. Might have been the "show your Super Tenere'' thread on ADVrider. Seems he did a bit of modding to the lower mounts but it looked pretty good.vilageidgit said:I thought I saw a SupaTen with both Yamaha lower crash bar and the Sw Motech crash bar,can any confirm this?
I don't think there is a group buy right now as the price ($1200.... ???) is prohibitive. Too bad. Looked like a perfect set up.Salty said:Hi reviewed comments on the South Africa crash bars / skid plate. I am very in terested in joining your buying group. I don't know how many other Canuks are interested in this product, but there must be a few. These bars appear to be very robust and with the attached skid plate and frame mounting, should offer max protection to the plastics and engine. I am also looking to source Heidneau K60s close to Nova Scotia any suggestions. Has any one found or fabricated front fender extentions, say 2 inch, to compensate for mud. I am hopeing to be in receipt of my Tenere by August / September, just in time to start modifications for Central and South American trip.
