Hey guys,

I'm considering looking to install a Trail Tech voyager on the Tenere. Has anyone one installed one of the trail tech computers on your Tenere? I don't run any type of GPS, so for me this would be more 'off road' info and back woods direction. Here is a link and a few pictures of what im talking about... Among many features it will also provide accurate speedo. If you own this on another bike how do you like the overall operation ? They don't specifically offer a unit for the Tenere but that's not to say one wont work. I'm thinking you might not have one of the features like RPM due to our internal coil system on the Tenere, Etc.... Thanks

I've had a few of their products on other bikes in the past. Everything always worked as advertised and seemed well made.

Sorry I can't offer any experience relevant to the Tenere, or that particular product, but my vote is to give it a try!

I had a couple much older Trail Tech products on my dirt bikes. They worked very well, until I ended up breaking them with crashes. Good company to deal with.

I went a different direction on my Tenere, I bought a Chinese motorcycle GPS. About half the cost of the Trail Tech you listed. Review here. http://www.yamahasupertenere.com/index.php?topic=10896.0

Looks awesome.
I'm curious whose operating system and if it will use open source maps.

I looked at these a few years ago and opted to go with a regualr GPS because the map feature is limited. Unless they changed it the map function is very limited....Doesn't use topo maps its more like it just shows your track and any points you mark.

Just bought one for my WR250R. It'll be perfect for back country discovery routes, etc. Very well featured product.

It'll also give you a speedo that is somewhat accurate. The one on the WRR is driven off the engine, so any change in sprockets or tires throws off the speedo. I've been considering adding a cheap little bicycle speedo.

Update:
I spent a considerable amount of time on the phone with Trail Tech over the last few days. Sending different pictures of set up, Etc.. We had three people involved over there at TT. Looks like we have different parts from several kits pulled and to be tried out on the Tenere. I have this kit being sent over and I should have it installed next week sometime. (for my needs and wants) The more I read and learn about this unit the more I think this is going to offer me exactly what im looking for. I guess we see... If anyone is thinking about this unit on your Tenere, just contact me and Ill tell you what we found out.... ::26::

Nice work Jaxon. This is a really good unit and an equally good outfit. I rode with one of the principals last year in Death Valley. Great people. There are some good You Tube videos out there. Jimmy Lewis uses these and he also has some user videos to reference with good use tips.

Sent from my Windows phone. Spelling errors free of charge.

I installed one of these on a Vmax for a friend after he low sided and tore off the factory speedo. Speed calculations are fabulous, GPS and wheel sensor for accurate speed notifications. GPS capabilities are not near as good as carrying a garmin on the bars. An extremely good unit for the price though. I was impressed and my friend was very pleased.
