While our S10 friends down in Texas are rallying this weekend, I thought the Portlandish crowd could do some ridin' of our own...

Sunday 9AM *departure* from Sherwood Regal Cinemas Parking lot:

15995 Tualatin Sherwood Rd
Sherwood, OR 97140

Rough plan is to head out to Carlton, Bald Mtn Access Rd West, then FS14 to Hebo Mt., down to Hebo. North through Tillamook, then Miami Foley, Foss Road over to 26. Work our way to Timber, then Forest Grove and back to Sherwood. Total a bit over 200 miles. 160ish Pavement, 40ish good gravel, 80/20 tire approved.

You'll see a lot of River, a bit of Ocean, some Mountains, etc. Good Oregon riding! ::012::

Let's all plan on leaving with a full tank of fuel, both rider and bike. Lunch somewhere along 101.

Please let us know your coming. See you Sunday!

Man, I wanna go. I got no bike, and I'm down in California, but I sure wanna go. In another month or so I'll have the bike, and in another year or so I'll be retiring to Northern California, so maybe I can join you then .... :)

Dang guys, I would love to go but I'm up in Bend this weekend.

Sounds like a great ride - have fun, be safe.

Portlandia rules. Lets try a meet and greet in Tillamook. I'll be coming from the North Coast Washington side. PM to follow. Outstanding weather these days eh.

Figures that this would come up now. I just shipped my clutch basket to the UK yesterday, for the Sharealike mod to the damper. Have a great ride, maybe next time for me.

Great ride today guys! We need to do it again with camping gear soon.

This is still a new bike for me and today was my first time on fire roads with anything larger than a KLR and tires that are really designed for the street. I'm thinking that for some of what I want to do this summer, I may need to get some different tires. I have a bead breaker and tire irons and changed my KLR tires myself so I'm wondering about doing that for the ST10. It may be time for a trip to Harbor Freight. ;-)

Photos from today... After I switch to a real computer. I hate this iPad...

;-) Paul

What a fantastic day. Nice meeting everyone one. One of those days that define the best parts of being an Oregonian!

A few pics...

It was great meeting up with you Oregonians in Tillamook today. I didn't get to share the ride over from Portlandia with you, but what a stellar day to ride for all of us. Pinch me for living and riding in the Northwest. Cross the river sometime and we'll ride here too. Cheers, Barry

After finishing Foss Road and heading out past Lost Lake Paul G., Jason, and I headed down 26 a bit and then turned off on Section 10 road with the theory we'd pick up Wheeler Road and take that down to Cochran and then into Timber. We got to the first intersection and debated a bit, then decided to just cut back to 26 an finish the day on pavement. I made a mental note to go back and see if the route would actually work. Had the chance today to go back and check it out. Not super exciting, but a couple of highlights. Paul, Jason, as we theorized, a right turn at that first four way, and then the next left did the trick. FWIW, Shields road connects as well.

I took a few pictures, it was raining about 25% of the time, but the sunbreaks were cool.

There were some straight sections.

Hmm, well, gee, hmm, oh fine, let's go right.

The start of the Salmonberry river, which we crossed earlier in the day on Foss Road right where it runs into the Nestucca.

This was on <something> ridge road. The <something> is escaping me right now. 2800ish feet.

Yep, it's a logging road.
