Is the cam chain chatter causing problems?

Ok so only one part, the basket is virtually needed, all up around $250 plus shipping, best place yo buy from that also ship Internationally?

Many thanks :)

"Is the cam chain chatter causing problems?"

As it gets progressively worse the cam chain will be so loos that it can cause it to jump the cam shaft sprockets and then metal things start to collide together where they should not, inside your motor..
If you look at the OEM parts number for all year Tenere's it has changed why?
Because the old one was a POS and it caused issues..

If I had known what a huge difference the new improved clutch basket would make, I would have purchased it even at the full price. It is that good. Also, my new upgraded cam chain tensioner has eliminated the cold start clicking I was hearing before. It is like riding a brand-new motorcycle.

Cheers,

Bruce

Wow. Cheaper than buying a new bike which I have been thinking about due to hand/arm issues which becomes worse with vibes, thank you all :)

Now just need to find a place that ship to Australia or if I can find a basket to a reasonable price from Yamaha Australia.

Why? There is an online parts fiche at the Stadium Yamaha Website. I swear some peeps around here want everything done for them. ::005::

I agreed that the information was valuable, regardless of how easy it is to find online elsewhere. It's part of being the repository of Tenere info here...

How many of you here are installing the new clutch basket yourselves versus having the dealer install? I've installed clutch baskets on Ducati's (dry) but not wet. Just wondering the level of difficulty and who has elected to do the work themselves.

I'm hoping this mod will once and for all solve the problem of my pinky finger going to sleep after 30 miles.

If you replaced a clutch basket before, you shouldn't have any problems installing this one. I wrote up a step by step here http://www.yamahasupertenere.com/index.php?topic=12921.0 I think theres another one out there.

First time for a long test run put on 525+ miles RT this weekend to Alamogordo NM with the new clutch basket huge difference indeed..
Just had the valves adjusted as well as installing a manual CCT all is well..
I have done this trip before with the old clutch basket and it was painful on the hands as well as fatiguing to the brain.
A must for the pre-14 bikes.

Hey Guys
Has anyone fitted these 2014 clutch bits to an Aussie 2010 ST?
No, but I cannot imagine why it would not work. My understanding is that all Super Teneres prior to 2014 had the same clutch design. Do you have some reason to think that the Australian models were different? It has certainly worked like a charm in my 2012 Canadian model.

Would have been good to find out if someone had done the mod on a 2010 ST just to be sure.
I have taken the plunge and ordered the parts from Stadium Yamaha so will let all know what the outcome is once fitted.
Initialy had really bad chudder which spoilt the ride so much.
John (Sharealike) did the mod on my basket and improved the chudder ten fold but now after a thousand km seems the chudder has worsened once more so now decided to replace the clutch basket with new.

Cheers

I guess I'm either lucky or numb to the "shudder". I tried the test of slightly pulling on the clutch in while riding. Did this on the gas, cruising, going up a steep grade, and down a steep grade, and that shudder is barely noticeable only when on the gas going up a hill. Its there, but ever so slight. I'm not going to change mine out till I need to put new clutch plates in.

I had the same experience. The new basket eliminates the shudder from the clutch area. It's like a new bike. Your going to love it.

::026:: I didn't think the vibration was too bad on mine either, but after having the new clutch basket installed, I was blown away by the difference!
