This sounded like a great topic of it's own, so it's been split out of the handlebar thread where it may've been lost.

Thanks for the comparison!

Custom fit Slip Grip cradles have served me well for 4+ years, 70K miles.

You order by make, model and type of phone case you use for a perfect fit. Have never had even a hint of phone coming out. For rough off road I do use a tether for peace of mind (dozen pony tail elastics are 99 cents at the dollar store). Price is reasonable at ~$30 each but if you are the type that changes phones and/or phone cases every 6 months probably not for you. They use standard Ram ball mount/arm so that is a one time purchase regardless of phone change.

The portrait video format makes my eyes bleed ::)

I use the RAM X-Grip mounts for my Note 5. Now that they have include the little "rubber band" thing there is no way the phone is going to come out without some force. Even before they included that as long as you had your phone portrait mounted it was solid. If you moved it into a landscape orientation an abrupt bump would cause the grip to release.

I have the one in the video but I added a VERY small bungee cord that is wrapped around it, and I slip the phone under the cungee cord without having to take it on and off.

Nice reviews, Tweak. I second the disdain for the Portrait video, though. ::010::

While it is exclusive for iPhones, the Topeak Ridecase is the best design of moto phone mount I've run accross. It is a two-part deal with a case for your phone, combined with a handlebar mount for your bike. As a result, the Ridecase has a physical "snap-in" connection from Phone to bike: no springs to worry about when that pothole sneaks up on you. The system was original designed for bicycles, but it works well on motos, in the car, and for an every-day-carry.

The Ridecase's handlebar mount also rotates from landscape (GPS) to portrait, which is nice if you have an application for it (texting? Poke-Grom Go? NO!). I've had a few minor offs (fucking ruts!) on my S10, and my phone has never wavered on this thing.

The case that goes on the phone is also slim enough for pocket usage, but still provided enough protection for every-day drops. Topeak also snuck in a kick-stand so your phone can stand up on it's own. Pretty slick.

They do offer a waterproof phone case, but I prefer to toss my phone into my tank bag if it starts to get wet. $1000 phone trusted to a $60 waterproof case? No, thanks.
