Hi Danny - great to hear! Black may be nominally warmer than the Frozen Gray, but probably not significantly. All panniers to some extent will heat up fairly well, but silver would be a good option if you want to deflect as much heat as possible.Might be great timing for me. I'm close to deciding. Wondering if black is all that much warmer under hot Summer sun? Was thinking frozen gray, although black would blend better with the bike (2018).
We've had guys spray pannier bodies and/or lids with truck bedliner and it's looked great. Paint would be a good option as well, although you might want to scuff the smooth powercoat surface a bit. You could also get the lids powdercoated (you can coat right over the existing coating).Alternatively- how hard would it be to paint the tops with a rattle can, wondering if I am a good enough painter to make it look nice.
The silver color is still a full powdercoat inside and out - no oxidation or smudging on the contents of your panniers!Am I correct, the silver listed means no coating at all, giving black rub marks on my gear?
The 40L set will fit within the stock handlebar width, while the 45L system is just slightly outside (about 0.75" on each side). To be honest, if I'm in a situation where I'm 0.75" away from anything, it may not end well anyway. Functionally, the larger cases work well on the road, even when lane splitting. Not wild about going wider, prefer the 40 liter to the 45 liter set.
You are correct in that the EVOs are $100 more than the regular price of the standard Defenders. With the YST.com deal on in-stock items through the end of this month, the standard Defenders are $200 less than the EVOs!Am I reading right that the Evo is $100 bucks more then the original? Making this deal $200 better then Evos?
Any other questions, please let me know.
Thanks!
