Here is the new Barnett pressure plate. Took a few pictures of the install. I haven't gotten to try it yet. When I get the bike back on the road (I hope very soon) I will report back the difference. This will provide much more pressure on the clutch plates for off road (sand, mud,Etc) and hard acceleration. Ive used these on other bikes in the past and seem to work very well.. I also weighed the whole stock unit to the Barnett. The new Barnett is about 2.5 oz heavier. Im not sure if that will have any noticeable effect on the rotation of the clutch basket? I thought that was a big weight difference.. I will also add that with 11K on the clock, EVERY part of the clutch looks absolutely brand new.. ::008::

how much is this fun? I imagine that it will be more desirable then the diaphragm spring, as the rate on coil springs vs the diaphragm is quite different. So, even though it has more pressure, it may not increase lever force. The other thing is the 2.5 ounces may not make any difference if the distribution of the mass is more centralized than the previous set up. basically, if the MoI is better on the new one, it may be even better.

I have the pricing at the office.. we will offer them. With the two springs they let you choose the 'force' you might want. On the instruction it tells you the spring weight of stock, silver spring, black spring. The silver are just a bit stronger that stock "per-se".. and the back are even more pressure. I dont have the sheet here in front of me. I installed half and half.

Jaxon, thanks for showing this to us. I have heard some really good things about the Barnett clutch plates and actually had one installed on my Yamaha Royal Star Venture. Really made a hugh difference in the feel of the clutch and I was told it would last a lot longer than OEM. I will be calling you when it is necessary to replace mine.

Looks awesome. Anxious to hear a report on how it works. You still waiting for your forks?

I've not really noticed any issues with the stocker holding even with the PC V and headers, but I've got relatively low miles compared to you being able to ride almost year round...lucky bastardo! ::008::

You saying I can't go out on the porch after supper and call up ebay and harass them for an hour and then discus the next off-road adventure ride and who needs to buy a trick GPS so we don't all get lost? (Cuz I ain't buying it!)

Don't matter though. I ain't buying no Barnett clutch. I love my clutch. (I think)

You guys are killing me. I'm farkled out I tell ya. :)

Jaxon,

I apologize. I didn't see you posting pricing in the thread so I figured you didn't have firm pricing yet. I killed the link because only a jackass would buy from Ebay to save a few bucks when there is a knowledgeable small business out there with the service you offer.

I'm impressed with Barnett. That is a smoking deal for a component like this. The real question is, how much better than the stock diaphragm setup is it?

I'm still trying to figure out how a company like Barnett ( who hasn't been able to make a real decent friction plate for the last 40 something years), makes a pressure plate similar to what most of the OEM Japanese manufactures have always made as far back as I can remember, sells it to replace the new one that Yamaha has spent countless time and money on in R&D, and supposedly hits a home run. I'm sure Yamaha didn't redesign that clutch to sAVE 70 GRAMS. What gives?

I am also wondering.

The stock Yamaha setup uses a diaphragm spring. The Barnett uses coil springs.

Not sure what functional difference that leads to...
