My Arrow slip on arrived today. Yesterday I cut up my heat shield and prepped it for the arrival of the Arrow. When I arrived home from work it took no time to get it all installed. I'm sure it's been talked about before but I was shocked at the weight difference between the stock and Arrow mufflers. It's huge. The stock is a pig. After starting it with the DB killer in I quikly pulled it out. The sound out is perfect to me. Nice and meaty when on the gas yet very civil when cruesing. The one thing I didn't take into account was that Arrow welded the little rubber bump stop tab onto the can :(. Now that I trimmed the heat shield it's in full view. Oh well I still think it looks great.

The bracket is a sort-of ugly blemish on the pipe....wonder if something could be done to eliminate it or hide it somehow.....

My only thought was to dremel it off smooth then pull off the Arrow logo from the tip and place it there.

It still looks way better then this.

That little tab was my only issue as well. I called Arrow USA to ask if they could order from the factory without that piece. I pointed out to them that the Remus, Leo Vince and Akra all had no tab there. The guy I spoke to said he would check but thought that they would not.
I waited a few weeks and never heard back. I sent another email and did not here back either so I took that as a no.

Maybe cutting it off and putting the Arrow sticker there is the best option. Your shield looks good.

That does look good. I may do something like that to mine as well except my Arrow came with really crappy mounting straps! The ones on yours (and Speeds I believe) look like carbon fiber to match the tip, mine are white, they look like really cheap stamped white metal. Stupid Arrow!

John, did you get the aluminum version or the Titanium? I think the Titanium ones come with the carbon fiber straps and the aluminum have the other straps, at least from pics I could find online. Maybe that is one of the reasons for the big price difference.

Tabasco is an Arrow dealer now. Maybe you could order the CF straps from him. I think Arrow will sell individual components. I have a PDF parts list for the Ti version if you need it.

Just checked out the Arrow system. The S10 pipe seems like a good value. May have to pursue one once the functional farkles are in place.

I got the alum version, when I ordered it the Ti was on backorder and I didn't want to wait. I would figure that cost to manufacture 2 different straps would really negate the minimal cost difference between the two

I may get the Arrow header later as a winter project and will try to get the other straps then.

Also, in case anyone is interested. I contacted Jet-Hot for a cost estimate to get the header coated, they quoted me a price of around $240 for their Extreme Sterling 1300 Black coating.

Hey Longboard,
What did you use to cut your heatshield? Looks great!
I used my Dremel with a plastic cut off wheel. I just went slow. Thanks to my other toy (400HP Mini Cooper) I have a lot of experiance cutting and trimming things with my Dremel :D

DAH-HAM!!! Impressive!

But how much torque did it have, and how comfy was it, Jaxon? ;)

That white stuff is just a protective layer. Just peal it off and expose the nice chrome finish. The straps are finished nicely.

Did you happen to figure out the weight difference between the Arrow and stock? (Jaxon, do you know?)

I'm not interested in a slip-on unless it's functional and as quiet (or nearly as quiet as) stock... and not too expensive. Functional would mean smaller and lighter, and/or offered a power boost. Power boost is probably too much to ask of a quiet pipe without other mods, so the improvement has to be in size and weight. Which is??

How would you rate the noise level with the DB Killer in place?

thanks

Trevor -

I kind of take the same stance as you for addons. I really only like to add things to the bike that will enhance the usefulness of the bike. For the cost of the Arrow it was worth it for me to try it out and I can always go back to the OE can and sell the Arrow if I really didn't like it.

The weight difference is significant when they are off the bike, I not sure it really made any noticeable difference in how the bike feels while riding it.

The arrow is noticeably louder than stock. Sounds kind of like a quite Harley to me. I have not taken out the baffle, and likely won't as I think it sounds fine and is loud enough as is. There also does not seem to be too much of a performance gain either, but I have only had mine on for a couple hundred miles and I am just now around 800 miles, so not really even broke in yet.
