If I am not sore from riding out to CampSTOC at Moonshine Creek in Balsam, NC I will try and make this one.
That sounds like a great idea! Balsam is a long way from White Rock. There is a GPS track posted for I40 E to White Rock to help get you there. If you want to tent camp that shouldn't be a problem having space. If you want a cabin only one is left. Have fun at CampSTOC!

I can make it 700 miles from Fort Smith to Maryville TN in 11 hours, 10 if I lite the afterburners. We made the Smoke Out in Rockingham the last couple of years and even an iron butt like me doesn't want to do it in a day. I haven't been thru Balsam but maybe a day and a half to White Rock unless you are really hard core.

There are motels in Ozark about 25 miles away and you'll be about 45 minutes or so from Fayetteville if you don't like sleeping on the ground. The Mill Creek ORV area is nearby White Rock if you want some off road stuff. The jeeps, sidebysides and 4 wheelers have the trails wollered out wide enough you can ride most of the trails with the side boxes still on. If you want to do the David Knight or Taddy thingm there are cool some single track trails left over from our enduro a couple of weeks ago.

The leaves (and pollen) are budding out and flowers are bloomin. It was almost 90 degrees here in Fort Smith today. I'm dreading the hot OPklahoma (and AR) months.

James, I'll plan on coming and if I can help out with anything, let me know. I talked to the Razorback Dirt riders about renting out the club campground for a adv/D-S event but didn't really get any bites. We have a meeting tomorrow night, I'll throw it out there to see if they might entertain some guests. For the RV, toy hauler trailer queens we have pull thrus with water, electric and a dump station about 5 or 6 miles from White Rock Rec area. Shoot me an email or you have my numbers if you need some help.

How was working the WR enduro? How was the attendence? Saw that some of the bunch was scared of a mud fest. Feel like pre-riding a route or two with me for the ARkansas Supertenere Expedition (ARSE)? I think I've got a pretty good one lined up for Saturday heading east out of White Rock more or less. Probably more pavement than dirt, but want to pre ride those dirt road sections for sure. Thinking maybe head West on Sunday, If anyone want to ride then. I'm sure you've got some choice roads picked out West of White Rock.

Sorry, been out of touch lately. Shame have to work to ride. I'd be up for some pre-riding. Shoot me an email or call I'll see whats goin on. Sat & Sun best for me. I talked to the Razorback Dirt Riders Club and they voted that they didn't have time to prep and host a group. But the consensus was if I stayed at the club camp with them they could camp as my guests. If you get a large group, I'd probably order a porta can since no restroom there, onlu wter & electric. There is a charge to use H2O & AC, like $10 per day. I'll be getting primed to leave for AK in June so may not have a lot of spare time. Keep me in the loop I'll help you if and when I can. I plan on coming up, hanging out and riding some but will ride home each night. Got a lot going on but should be able to squeeze in 1 day to come ride.

Thanks, M

So many rides, so little time. Work sure gets in the way of my riding when/where I want. Looks like a fine time will be had by all participants and I wish y'all well. Just jealous I can't attend...

Is this ride still on and if it is what is the cost of camping. By the way, this should really be put in Events, I had a crap of a time finding it again.. ::025::

The Ride is still on for sure. I have scheduled the entire week off from work so if someone wants to show up early on Thursday let me know. I've been scouting out some great rides over the last couple of weekends and the rides will be fun with an obligatory lunch stop for some tasty road food in the middle of Nowhere, AR.

There is one cabin still available Cabin. Link here > http://www.whiterockmountain.com/CabinBRates.html
Please note that you will have to bring your own linens, pillows, washcloths, towels, soap etc.

Also the road from Shores Lake to White Rock washed out from a flood last fall and the road was supposed to be fixed by March but still isn't. I'll post up a by pass route in a week or so for those coming via I-40.

Camping is $10/night and If we can get a headcount, Paula said that she wouldn't mind roping a few sites off for us. The campsites in general will only hold about two tents/4 people but Paula is somewhat flexible about that. That would be about $2.50/night camping.

Also please note that it is many miles to the nearest grocery store and many more miles for beer. My wife and kids are coming up for part of the time and I don't mind "making a run" to have frosty road beverages available after the ride. I'm thinking that we will grill out on the mountain Friday and Saturday night dinner with standard fare, burgers, hot dogs, chicken.

For those who want to make their own route to White Rock Campground the coordinates are N35 41.429 W93 57.382 this is in hdd mm.mmm format.

We will not have a formal registration and will "pass the hat" for donations to help defray the cost of beer and food for those involved.

If you a definitely coming please PM me. I will start a list so we can get an idea of the resources needed. Thanks, J

Yeah.. tough one.. I'm heading out after work Thu the 7th to Jackson, MS and then Telico Plains the next day w/jaunt through the Dragon and Cherry Cola Hwy... LOL Hang out at the event on 9th and then start taking the very long way back on the 10th which includes some dirt roads when in AR.. Well, that's the current plan..

Sorry for the thread hijack.

Flying W and I did some scouting and pre-running today. One thing that crossed my mind is "BRING YOUR SWIMMING TRUNKS!" We "discovered some great swimming holes, great vistas and holes in the wall with good food in BFE or rather BFAr. A few photos below.

This is Flying W at Pine Mountain Vista. It looks out over the Arkansas River Valley to the south.

And Yours Truly

We headed over to the Big Piney Overlook after that and here's a photo from there

We had a really great ride today. Can't wait to have a squadron of SuperTens flying through those Ozark Backroads! ::018::
