I've owned a pair now for about 3 years as well, OTB. I too usually wear them when on my YZ450 doing some woods riding as opposed to the Tenere. I wear a Troy Lee Designs knee and shin guard when I'm riding off road so I'm not concerned much that they don't have the D3 protection. I can say that I'm pretty hard on them riding in the woods. Creeks and mud, thorns, hitting low branches etc and they are holding extremely good. I would have thought if anything the velcro around the boot would have given up by now. The thick material seems to keep water out unless its a downpour. I've sprayed mine with a bit of that rattle can waterproof stuff to help with that.
I find them to be warm even with the vents open. So if I'm going to be hot, I'll just wear the Carlsbad pant instead with the D3 when on the Tenere. The Mojave is my go to when there's no rain in the forecast and its going to be anywhere around 80F degrees or more.
So with all that, they are a good all around pant that should last you a while. If I was on a budget and couldn't afford Gore and needed a pant that met in the middle it would be the Dakar.
