I have a lot of miles on an older pair of Badlands and wear them for commuting. Love them but with the price I couldn't buy replacements if new.

I picked up a pair last year for like $140. They are good quality and work well. As I recall, they do not come with armor and they are sold as being water resistant not waterproof. The venting works well and this is where they tend to leak. I mainly wear mine for playing around off road on one of my other bikes.

I have the Mojave pant which is similar to the Dakar but uses mesh sections rather than vents. Nearly identical cut and fit. Both pants are pricey but are well made and comfortable. My problem was belly size... I usually wear a 34 but had to swap to a 36 which made the legs too long. Klim needs to standardize their sizing as the 34 Traverse pant I use fits perfect.

I used a set of Klim Dakars for a couple years of single track offroading. They work well for that. I have a new pair of them and Mojaves sitting in my room waiting for my waistline to shrink enough to use them... ;)

I have an older pair ( 5 yrs ) at the time it was a super deal , wasn't sure about them . I can say after years of use I really like them . I've worn them year round , upto Tuktoyaktuk and back locally all the time ! They wear well and for me suit my needs perfectly. As the aforementioned they don't come with armour.

I Used my Dakar pants for 3yrs now. No complaints, picked up $12 nylon over pants for rain rides, Love the fact that I can leave my vents open and get air circulation while over pants keep me dry. I live in a state when we don’t get that much rain so this configuration works great, if I lived in the more rainy climate I might consider waterproof pants.

I've owned a pair now for about 3 years as well, OTB. I too usually wear them when on my YZ450 doing some woods riding as opposed to the Tenere. I wear a Troy Lee Designs knee and shin guard when I'm riding off road so I'm not concerned much that they don't have the D3 protection. I can say that I'm pretty hard on them riding in the woods. Creeks and mud, thorns, hitting low branches etc and they are holding extremely good. I would have thought if anything the velcro around the boot would have given up by now. The thick material seems to keep water out unless its a downpour. I've sprayed mine with a bit of that rattle can waterproof stuff to help with that.

I find them to be warm even with the vents open. So if I'm going to be hot, I'll just wear the Carlsbad pant instead with the D3 when on the Tenere. The Mojave is my go to when there's no rain in the forecast and its going to be anywhere around 80F degrees or more.

So with all that, they are a good all around pant that should last you a while. If I was on a budget and couldn't afford Gore and needed a pant that met in the middle it would be the Dakar.
