They are round, rubber and they roll, so that makes them a tire.
The S10 is a big heavy MC and I would be concerned about the tire holding up for 100 miles.

If it doesn't hold up for 100 miles, then Junk would be fair, at least on a Tenere.
Snake it is the Desert 100 weekend. I want to do one of their dual sport events they have on Saturday, the day before the race. Their is also an ADV race of 50 miles, but I don't think even at a turtle pace I would want to put the Tenere through that. So DS ride will be it for me.snakebitten said:So what is this event?

I have thought about doing this myself, but I have to ride 350 miles before I can find decent off road,so I have procrastinated. Can't speak for the knobbies, but I really like their 705's on my Tenere for the street. I think a K-60 on the rear and that knobby on the front would be a great off road combo. I know it's not tubeless, but it would be interesting to see if it can hold air without a tube. Are you going to try that first?HoebSTer said:

HoebSTer If i can get the time off ,I,am going to run the big bike race on sunday.
I'm late to this party, so just want to add a couple of Shinko bad experiences. Other than price, have not seen or had a good experience.
DCStrom had one on his Tenere, tore it at the base of the tread, and lost pressure.
My son had one on his DL1000. It got a bit more than a third of the miles that the OEM Brickstones did.
I had one on the rear of a Strom and watched it go from tread to slick over about 200 miles. I kept stopping to see why the rear was hydroplaning so bad, thinking I had tread just yesterday, and alarmed by how fast it was going away. We were trying to get somewhere to buy a new tire on this thrilling night ride in the rain that I never want to repeat.
All of that said, IMHO a low power DIRTbike in sharp rocks like a strip mine that would tear up tires would be appropriate for using a Shinko because you will need to replace it quickly, regardless of brand..
At this point when I ride with others and see a Shinko STREET tire (or one of those offbrand colored ones) it makes me look at the owner and wonder why.

They do have that size in the E-07 non dakar or the correct size in a dakar version. He showed me both and pointed out both spec the same in the Mitas book (which turns out to be a misprint) but looking at the 100/90 right next to a 110/80 dakar version............the 100 actually looks wider. Mind you this is unmounted and who knows if that dakar was at the bottom of a stack at some point, or maybe the dakars look skinnier unmounted due to the sidewall or maybe just an optical illusion. I took they 100, then debated whether to take it back several times but I think I will mount it up and measure.......only way to tell for sure what the numbers are. In theory the 100/90 is only 2mm taller (they don't give that spec online) and only 8mm narrower. If it sucks then I'll pull them - didn't cost all that much.HoebSTer said:
