@ Ron And Scott. The No Mar is one of the tools I wish I had bought way back when I was broke. If takes a little figuring out but then it's pretty sweet.

I won't go back after having mine. Standing up is much easier, especially on my old bones.

I've done several S10 tire changes and some BMW and VStrom tires as well - same wheel sizes.

It does help to use the grey helper tools to compress the tire and make a space. Even doing that, on some tires you have to really push on two sides and lean into it to get that third adjustable cam side. I have some 1 inch ends of a 2x4 sawed off and have sanded the edges smooth that I use as shims if I need some more gap in the tire.

Old post revival, I know, but I figured I would keep all the NoMar info in one place.

I too fairly recently stumbled upon a screaming deal on a used NoMar Classic with all the goodies. So I sold my HF rig to a riding buddy and an only now - months later - going to dive in today to get the NoMar rig set up and ready to go. So I went through this older post to see what wiser and more experienced folks had to share. I bookmarked the NoMar videos so I can watch them before and during the first tire change I attempt.

As per AVC's request earlier in the thread... are there any of you out there who have marked the dogs and clock faces for the different wheel sizes (eg: 17, 18, 19, 21) that might be willing to share a pic that might help me label mine? I can do it myself when I next do a tire change but I am always open to beta - no reason to reinvent the wheel.

And has anybody out there stumbled upon the problem of the NoMar being too low to the ground to work comfortably. While my HF tire rig was of dubious quality - it was just about at waist height which made for comfortable ergonomics. The NoMar stand is super low and will require my 6'5" frame to bend over too much and defeat the point of tire changes being easy on the body. I am looking into ways to elevate the base and still have it firmly attached to the garage floor. Have any of you encountered this issue and solved it. My first option that I am going to look into today is to temporarily bolt the tire changer on the Handy Lift at its lowest position. This should be the right height and the sheer mass of the Handy Lift should keep the stand stable as I lever on the tires.

Thanks!!

I've got a NoMar and I'm not greatly impressed- I get the feeling it was designed for some racer's wide 17 inch wheels and that's all it really works on. On narrower rims I'm still having to use the old tire irons because the blocks are too tall to fit. Heck, I even had to take a wheel off the NoMar and change it on the floor because it fit the NoMar so poorly. I watched the NoMar guys do tires at the MOA Rally in Billings and they were having the same problems, so it's not a "training" issue. The boss there had an attitude and suggested I need to buy a couple hundred dollars more of their gadgets... Sorry NoMar, but I already spent $800 and I'm not dropping any more dollars on your junk!

NoMar insists on a 20% return fee plus shipping, which may explain why you're seeing so many NoMars on Craig's list...
