I was still waiting for my bike last year!
Everything I heard was positive. Having ridden in that area, I definitely consider going if time allowed.

Dingo Steven, by the looks of it, I could maybe do Sat and Sunday. I fly back from Ohio on the Friday night. My wife will be out of town, so what the hell, I might as well try to make an appearance. Let me do some quick thinking. I don't necessarily want to drive in the dark.

Yeah Sat/Sun would be good, but not sure about the Friday.

Might send me an email to see if I can get an itinerary, details on accomodation/camping etc.

Certainly sounds like fun ::008::

Im going - going to go down Friday after work. Will drive my Tundra and trailer the bike. What time are you back Friday Jeff?

Some details I was provided ...

Yeah I can try to provide you with more information on the ride but we haven't gotten all the details yet for this ride (we're still figuring out routes and everything for it). It will mirror last year's event but I am assuming you did not attend. So we are expecting 70 to 100 people this year. Last year, we had around 70 people and we are expecting a larger volume this year. I know that most people do not bring their spouses (unless their spouses have their own bike and ride) BUT you are definitely welcome to bring your spouse and she can come ride two up with you on the routes if you'd like! There were a few couples last year that did ride two up and it was no problem. You do have to keep in mind though that we still have to charge for two ride tickets because most of the admission of the ride goes into food, camping and other amenities.

We have reservations at the Satsop Center for camping ( http://home.comcast.net/~satsopcenter/ ) and the ride ticket covers the camping. You are welcome to stay at one of their facilities on the website but you will have to do that on your own. If you are from Seattle, last year we had everyone meet at the AltRider offices and we rode the ferry to the location together. I would say it's a good mix of trailers and bikes. At the last event in california, we had probably 65% of people ride their motorcycles in with all their camping gear and everything strapped to their bike. The rest trailered them using their truck or RV's.

We don't have a set itinerary yet but this is most likely how the event will go
Friday - either meet at altrider offices at a certain time during the day time and arrive at the campgrounds around 3-6 pm. We have dinner catered that night and then have some sort of riders meeting and nighttime activity with beer and campfires.

Saturday- We get up early morning 6 or 7 and have breakfast at the site. Another riders meeting will take place and we'll provide you with GPS routes (through GPX files prior to the event) or paper maps. You ride in groups of 4-8 so it's much safer for everyone and it will be divided by skill level. We'll all meet somewhere for lunch (sory, we dont have the routes yet so don't know the exact location of everything yet) and ride until the afternoon. Then we'll have a delicious dinner (Mary from the Skokomish tribe is cooking and I heard she makes a MEAN elk stew and Indian fry bread) followed by prizes, more nighttime entertainment and campfire.

Sunday- breakfast, pack up campsite, and head back home on the ferry.

This is pretty brief but we send out basically a three page itinerary with all the specifics a few weeks before the event. Let me know if you have other questions! We'd love to have you!

I just signed up ::012:: ::013::
I shot my 1st(and only) Elk a few miles from the Satsop Center. I know the area around Wynoochie Lake pretty well. It's beautiful up there!
I plan to camp Friday and Saturday night. I'll meet yall there beacuse I come from Olympia to Montesano then north to the Satsop Center.

See you there!

Hey guys, this is Jeremy from AltRider. Nancy, our marketing coordinator, and I are doing most of the organizing right now and we're definitely getting stoked for this ride.

I wanted to show you some pictures from the area that we will be riding in.

How is it bigger and better than last year?
Dave McKay of Griptwister Tours and I were having a hard time with the snow still present in June last year. Now that the Hoh Rainforest Ride is later in the summer, the peninsula is at it’s prime riding condition.
• More daring routes at higher altitudes, remote areas, and completely off pavement
• Campgrounds are at the Satsop Center with actual bathrooms AND showers -- no more Port-A-Potty!
• A thrilling route back home on Sunday
• Huge prize giveaways such as a free PSSOR riding course, ICON gear, gift certificates and much more

The $195 entry fee includes:
- Epic GPS – led routes created for ALL skill levels by guide guru David McKay of GripTwister Tours
- 2 nights of camping nestled in the pristine forests of the Olympic National Park
- 5 locally sourced meals catered by Mary from the Skokomish Tribe -- Fry bread, fresh oysters and elk stew will be on the menu again along with King Salmon this year!
- Locally drafted beer and adult beverages to be enjoyed nightly by a crackling fire
- An entertaining presentation from Dan T. Moore, a world traveler who's rode along the Silk Road, the US Continental Divide, and all over South America on two wheels. Check out his current journey from Cape Town to Cairo, approximately a 9,950 mile trek over 70 days.
- An off-road teaching seminar from the experienced coaches at Puget Sound Safety Off-Road (PSSOR)

http://www.altrider.com/altrider-s-hoh-rainforest-ride-2012/pid/936 : Sign up for the event here. We aren't really capping it this year because it's a local event for us and the campsite can accommodate for large groups.

Let me know if you have any questions or email us at info@altrider.com

SEE YOU AT THE RAINFOREST!

Jeff, you going with or without panniers....trying to decide whether or not to leave the happy trails behind.

Waiting to see what the altrider schedule looks like, will probably meet everyone on this side at the ferry terminal since I am already over on the penninsula. Think that will be Friday.
