Also have a northern war story :-[ year before last 2nd week in May, heading North up the Alaska Hwy-heading home. Ran into rain about Whitecourt Alberta varied between torrential downpour to "relaxing" drizzle, but never let up until MarshLake Yukon( over 1400km-1000miles ) Actually ended up with 2nd degree burns/blisters on both hands from heated grips combined with not-so waterproof gloves- Other than the hands I never got wet, just temperature cold--- never got above 4-5c whole trip. Great ride, even though I wouldn't want to do it over & over again :))

Count me in! Like other have said, as long as you have good gear, all is well. I have noticed that I often sing inside my helmet, but only when riding in the rain. I know, weird.......

There is a solitude I can't quite paint in words that riding in the rain provides. My wife thinks I'm nuts when I gear up to just go on a Saturday ride in the rain.

She doesn't mind one bit how it improves my mood, however...

If I gotta, I gotta...and on a long trip, you gotta at some point.

I hate camping in the rain and will try and motel it....and don;t like riding mud.....but on a log trip, you usually gotta at some point.

But, when I look out the window and see the rain, I usually bag it.

I use my bike 85% of the time for commuting (140km/day) so yes, I get alot of rain. Doesn't bother me realy. I actually like extreme weather (very heavy rain, wind,...), it gives that extra kick to it :)

I don't mind the rain on a trip if I can see that we will get out of it, don't like the cold AND rain tho. This pic was after reaching the lodge at Queen Wilhelmina, AR after riding in the rain for pass 3 hours. Back in Jan, and 42f.

I enjoy the rain most of the time too - focuses the mind a little more than usual and that's always a good thing. You might enjoy this vid - of the first 3000 miles I did on the S10, I reckon half of them were wet... I like the pitter-patter of tiny (and not so tiny) raindrops in this...

Great roads up in the middle of PA. Now that you've had the Montana, how's the switch to the new GPS?

I think riding in the rain, really sets apart the motorcyclist community. I love seeing bikes hiding underneath bridges like trolls, when a little sprinkles hit their windshields. As I go cruising by. Espically on this motor, I couldn’t believe how well it handled in the wet. I love riding in the rain even more.
As my Motor Sergeant said, “Somethings are better when their wet.” I guess that means riding in the rain.

Haha! The the leather-clad cruiser and sport bike crowd just hafta look badass. Too bad they turn into sponges when the rain comes.
I am not the type to go out and start a ride in the rain unless there is a good chance that it will clear off sooner or later. that being said, when you know that your gear will keep you dry and warm, I do enjoy a ride in the rain more than I ever thought I would. can't imagine rain riding in a crappy, ill fittng suit, poor gloves and open face helmet (if any), I'd be parked under a bridge too.
