To stop things blocking the lock, cut up a coat hanger, bend up a small cage, or even just a couple bars that cover the lock mechanism area, and grab some jb weld. Short time later you have a somewhat permanent fix to stopping contents from blocking the locking arm.

Awhile back I used sealer in the bolt holes hoping it would stop water from getting in the tool box. Last Sunday I left for a week trip and I found rain and wet roads about half way through the day. Today I returned from the trip and started the tear down and remembered the tool box. Opened it up and everything was damp. Looks like the sealer helped but no cigar. Think I will pull the tool box off and try to find the other leak(s). I am thinking it is the door seal. Now to find a different style seal.

Before I left on the trip I cut a piece of clear fuel line and pressed it between the tool box and frame. Was hoping it would reduce the rocking... and it did.

I'm convince the door seal is the point of entry. I think mine was made worse because I had to flip the door so the lock clears the turn signal. Let me know if you come up with something that works. I was thinking ditch the foam, and use silicone.

I came to the same conclusion.

I have givi racks, but i don't see them listed on the raid toolbox ordering spot. I saw the raid box mounted w/givi racks. is there another compatible rack that i would use for ordering purposes??

Sierraoffroad, If it turns out the OEM setup works with the GIVI racks shoot me a PM, I have a RAID box in good shape I can let go for really reasonable cost. Went with another solution for my tool storage so right now it is just sitting on my workbench. Shoot me a PM if you are interested.

Hi guys - sorry it's been a bit since I've checked in. We've been incredibly busy this season (good problem to have!) and I haven't been able to participate in the forums as much as normal.

On waterproofness....based on the feedback and suggestions from the forum, I've been working with Sisco at DS Bike on some ideas around improving the waterproofness of the box. He's testing a new door design right now and, if it works well, the new door will be included with all raidboxes going forward. It will be a bit more production-intensive than the current design, so he's already set the expectation with me that the cost for raidboxes will increase a bit (the USD-to-EUR exchange isn't helping matters, either). The good news is that the box itself is not changing and the new door will be able to be retrofit to earlier toolboxes. For anyone that's purchased a raidbox directly from us in the past, I'll offer the door upgrade at cost. I don't have a price or ETA as of yet, but will definitely keep you posted as I hear more.

On GIVI applications....DS Bike did a GIVI bracket kit at one point; however, it was based on the EU GIVI racks (my understanding is there are two different sets of racks) and I'm not sure if it would fit on US racks. The downward slope of the GIVI crossbraces poses a problem as it forces the box lower than stock, which (depending on terrain), could put it closer to the caliper than is advisable. We've been happily surprised by new applications - one of the forum members (cbat) tested and confirmed the Hepco-Becker fitment for us - but I think the GIVI setup would require either new brackets, a smaller raidbox, or both. If you want to visualize it first, the best bet is to make a cardboard mockup of the box and see how it will fit up. The dimensions of the box are 11” overall length, 7 5/8” rear door to 45 degree bend down at the top, 5 3/4” height (before bend), and 3 1/8” width.

Thanks!

If the manufacturer admits the initial raid box door was defective by allowing leaks and is now taking measure to fix the issue, wouldn't it be appropriate to offer the upgraded door for free to those who are stuck with the leaks?

I understand what your saying but Rotaryracer has been pretty good about making things right when things have gone wrong. Most manufactures wouldn't even offer the retro fit. SW Motech didn't offer retro fits to their leaky Trax boxs they just came out with the new model. At least they are addressing the problem...I am curious to see what they come up with.

Thanks guys - I'm going to try to work with DSBP to keep the upgrade cost neutral if possible (i.e. current box + new door upgrade = new box price with upgraded door). I'll definitely keep you posted as I get more info.

I just picked one of these up from a local buddy who traded his Tenere for an 1190. Has anyone fit the Raid with Givi quick release racks?

Hi AC - we don't have a direct-fit application for the GIVI racks, so it would probably take some custom bracketry to fit up. Probably doable, but will require some DIY. I'll also check with DS Bike to see if they've fit a box up on the QR GIVI racks before and (if they have) see if they have any pictures.

I'm still waiting for the updated door kits from Spain and will try to get those included with our next shipment.

Thanks!

I kind of figured. I'm trying to figure out exactly where they intend the box to be. Is the box intended to wind up under the subframe or completely to the right side of the subframe?
