Thanks for all the help , I don't have mine yet, just ordered it today. It's been explained here, I'm sure, I'm just confirming. 270 (3/4) degrees out on both screws , then I sync it with the left screw only at idle.

Do I need to check if the screws are all the way in first or just do the 3/4 from where they are.

Best to do the CO (another headache for me) before I do the sync and start at +2 or +3.

Is this the right way?

Warm up the bike before you do anything.

Check the right screw to make sure it is seated. Very gently turn it cc for 1/8" turn and then turn it clockwise gently, until you feel it seat. Now open it 3/4 turn cc.
Leave the left screw where it is and hookup the Harnonizer and press the button, it will start and zero out.
Start the bike, and adjust the left screw until the Harmonizer is at the center or 0.

Your done! Just shut off the bike and disconnect everything and shut off the Harmonizer.

::008:: best out there..... where did you get yours.... I need to pick one up... Thanks

I believe the only place you can get the Harmonizer balancer is from the guy who makes 'em - Grok - over on the ADVrider forum. Check out his thread on the Harmonizer here:

http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=701625

Order it via his PayPal link and Grok will have one in your hands unbelievably quick. I ordered mine and he had it in my hands within 3 or 4 days, IIRC. Great service, and a terrific product.

Hope this helps! :)

japako, Thanks again, I'm feeling more confident already.

Sorry, TABASCO, some how I read, 'when did you get yours'. It must be getting late , I read it wrong. :)

I got mine from the link posted by Dallara.

+1 on the service... I had some problems with my first one, and Grok sent me a new one immediately. Got it in a couple of days and sent the old one back in the same box.
He didn't ask for more money, didn't cry or whine. Just got the job done.. You can't beat that kind of service.

Mine must be pretty bad. Mine has stalled out a few times and will spit and sputter even getting on the throttle while on the center stand . I found this thread looking for answers. I only have around 800 miles and initially thought it would sort itself out after break in. Now I'm going to have to figure this out.

I've got a really simple solution. You're still under warranty, so have the dealer sort it out. Why on earth do you want to spend precious time on something that is the dealer's repsonsiblity?

Yep, should have seen that statement coming :-[ It also does not do it all the time. The dealer is just down the street about 3 miles. If it happens again I will ride down and see what they say. On the other had. I LOVE this motorcycle and it is a real joy to ride! ::26::

I am still having the occasional instantaneous stall when trying to get moving from a stop in sport mode after making the changes mentioned in this thread. These occur much less frequently than before the changes, but even once is dangerous. I have the air screws out 3/4 turn and synchronized with the CO set at +6. I just happened to me this morning, and of course here I am at the traffic light cranking the starter while everyone else waits, like an asshole. Before some clown tells me that I need to learn to ride, I will say that this has never happened to me on any other bike (fuel injected or not) in the last 14 years.

Going to a dealership is out of the question for me because the last time they wanted to charge me something like $120 to do these changes, without even considering the possibility that Yamaha should pay for this as a warranty issue. In addition, I've found that the service personnel in this area are what is referred to as the "lowest common denominator" and I do not trust them with my property at all. Letting them take care of the fuel pump O-ring was painful.

It seems that the YCC-T prevents raising the idle speed; is that true?

Has anyone else experienced a continued problem at the settings I've used? If so, did opening the air screws further fix the problem?

Ron,

My S10 has stalled once in about 1500 miles so far. I never did the adjustment regime noted here. Without knowing all your particulars, have you considered returning everything to stock position?

Again, don't know at what point in your "break in" period you made adjustments for example. What is your elevation, ie sealevel or mountain? Do you have any mods like exhaust? What do your plugs look like?

Hopefully useful thoughts to consider.

Edit: just noted your location, sealevel...

I would look into the ThrottlePositionSensor adjustment procedure. Any other other symtoms, like maybe the RPM dropping off abruptly as you back off of the throttle?

I had a rough idle on mine so I figured it was time to lift the tank (easy to do) and try the adjustments. I will have to get a Harminizor yet to get this right, what i found was the right screw was seated and the left screw was out 3/4ths of turn. I opened the right to 3/4 and the idle is smooth. I wonder how far out of sync it was, it sure is idling better. I would have my dealer sync it as they owe me one for leaving the rag behind after the recall but after stopping by there the other day to give the mechanic some crap (he had the day off) I thougt I would order the winglets. At the parts counter I asked to see accessorys for the Tenere and his response was the Tenere I havent heard of it! say what. I will be at the International Motorcycle show tonight hope to spot the 700 Honda and new Triumph maybe even the new BMW

Oldtramp,

I am heading to the show as well - but will be there tomorrow (Sat.) Let me know if you are going to be there a second day.

AS to the airscrews, the right one is the master. The left one is the slave and the two are NOT matched by number of turns. You set the right one out 270 degrees from the bottom and then sync the left. It might be the same or not. Right now I guess that you are quite a bit "out of sync" even though the bike idles better.

Anyone familiar with a Morgan carbtune? I don't see any reason that won't work for synchronizing the Tenere. Planing on doing this mod this weekend. Used it on my Connie years ago.

Should work fine I would think. I have not played with the settings on the ST yet, but my Morgan carbtune seemed to work fine on the DL1000.
