You know, Tim, I was just thinking about that. During my test ride after doing the initial balance with the right set at 3/4 I stopped at an O'Reilly auto parts store and got some heavy duty vacuum caps as I hadn't been satisfied with how the OEM one fit over the right TB port. Right after I left the store is when the bike died at a stop. When I got home, I did the rebalance with the right set at 1/4 and balancing the left to that, then installed the aftermarket cap, which fit much better. When the Harmonizer gets here, I will start over with the right set at 3/4 and the new cap and see how it does.

Thanks for the suggestion. It has already been done. :)
the Harmonizer in guage mode will measure and display vacuum readings between 0 and 29 in Hg. You should be able to connect it to the standard left port at 270 deg from seated and measure the vacuum to see if it is in spec 10.4 to 11.6 in Hg

You must release the vent hoses from the clamps under the tank to raise it enough to reach, otherwise (at least on mine) the tank can only be raised about 1 to 1 1/2". Not enough to get in to hook up the TBS hoses.
Yes, that is true and only takes a second to do.

That is not even necessary. If you look at the front leftside of the engine next to the oil filter, you can see the ends of the venthoses. If you guide those upwards there is no need to release the hoses/clamps under the tank. Saves you a lot of time/effort risk of loosing the clamps. ::008::

Yes, that is what I do. I didn't realize that Rod was talking about loosening clamps under the tank. As you say, just slip them out of the guides next to the oil filter and they slide right up with the tank.

Hmmmm, good input. I assumed the only way to do it was to release them from the clamps under the tank.

Thanks all!

Alrighty then!!! Have to add my input to this mod;

I just did it, well, had it done.

I had my dealer do the 4000 mile service and while in asked if they would do this for me. They were very knowledgeable to this mod as it applies across other model ranges as well. No problem, they would handle the adjustment and then sync to it, no problem.

Uhh, wow!!! Yea, it made a significant difference in the smoothness and has almost eliminated the off idle stumble at take off. The smoothness of fully engaged clutch, idle speed, slow state riding has exponentially improved as a result.

I have done no other alterations to date (CO, pipe, etc.)

Based on all this, I would highly recommend doing this mod and if you haven't, don't wait any longer. It works! ::021::

I made the adjustment and did the TBS synch afterward. I will see tomorrow how it will drive. The TBS was off some, brought it back pretty close to even on the home-made manometer.

Wish you were closer so I could loan you my Harmonizer. If the Harmonizer is operating correctly then the adjustment will be exact. I have used a homemade Manometer and I thought it was very close. Then I used a Motion Pro tool and found the Manometer to be less than exact. I am guessing the Harmonizer would be the same with comparison to the MP tool. When comparing all three is there a significant difference... I do not know... but there is a difference with my mindset. Also the Harmonizer is as simple as it gets to making the TB sync. Very stable.

Tomato, I know it would be more precise, this is better than nothing at all. The vacuum was off. Maybe someday I will get an MP one.

I am not familiar with what Motion Pro offers, but as one that has replaced my Twin Max with a Harmonizer, I also recommend it. I used my Twin Max for a TBS 3 times, each time experimenting with different settings on the right side reference TB. The first 2 times I guess I didn't get it very close and I wasn't satisfied with how the bike ran. The Twin Max uses a needle indicator that jumps all over the place unless you turn the sensitivity way down and even then, it is difficult to tell when you are spot on. Evidently the last time I did it, I got it right, as when the Harmonizer arrived, I checked the sync and it was right at 000. It is much easier to operate than the Twin Max and can also be used to measure individual vacuum and can show RPM's. I ended up with the popular 270 degrees out on the right TB and presently have the CO at +1 and the bike runs great.

To sum it up, I highly recommend that if you spend some $$ for a TBS instrument, you get the Harmonizer.

So after a brief 20 mile commute, it seems more responsive. I will have to mess with the bike some more this week to get a really good feel for the throttle now.

Good to hear Jeff. The Super Tenere is a much better motorcycle with the TB's sync'd. Now a search for best performance and gas mileage. My Right-side is @ 1/2 turn and CO is 3. The throttle response is very good and next week I will get a good measure of gas mileage with a trip to Las Vegas and return.

I used my Harmonizer to sync T/B's this weekend after adding a PCV with AT and a full aftermarket exhaust and A/C. With the Harmonizer, the T/B sync took the least time and I "knew" it was dead on! Highly recommended!

I'm trusting you guys with your choice. Just order a Harmonizer, hope I can sync the ST on my own.

+1 on the Harmonizer.
A tip on doing this. Remove your vacuum line and save it until your done. Use another hose and a t fitting to do the sync.
When your are done, put it back to stock. Also I use a 1/8" vacuum cap on the right side instead of the stock cap. I think it fits better..

I use the brass couplings and press the vacuum lines firmly against the couplings.
