Yea I will agree that you have to get used to them because when I originally bought a set to base mine off of I put them on and didn't like it. Then kept seeing them in pictures and thinking they looked so cool and put them back on and now when I see an S10 without them it looks weird to me like its missing something. As far as color, that's all taste. You have a lot of options with that bike though to where if you don't like how the red stands out, you could do white to blend in with the fender or even a flat black to go with the side panels or carbon.

Its great you are trying something different. I think it looks okay. Not bad but its like its missing something...

I think its too solid a red against the white. What I mean by this is if you look at the painted parts of the bike its white with red "accents". I say that but I can't come up with an idea that would incorporate a red accent against the white that goes along with the rest of the bike...

Thats how I am seeing it too, I have the YAMAHA stickers on order, they are white, I am hoping it will break the red blob a little.

Thank you for your input Danman and Bushyar! :)

Agreed, The sticker did the trick... Just enough... :)
Thank you, as soon as I put the sticker on I smiled in relief, it was there to stay.

Pictures are not making its justice, it looks more subtle in person.

Thanks guys. Looks great Wenwa, I forgot about plastidip. I've never used it but have heard good things about it. I was thinking spray bedliner would be durable and hard to mess up also if anybody wanted to try that. As far as the gelcoat, white is all I have right now and didn't see any reason to get other colors because like others said it's probably best to coat/cover it with something anyway. And VPS1, GEN2S10, and Phplemel yours should be shipping out tomorrow.
hi would you post to Northern Ireland? Thanks

Dan, if you think this clogs up your for sale ad, I'll move it to something like modifications… Again, I think your guards are AWESOME and well crafted….

Mounted mine up! Real HAPPY with the guards themselves. So-so happy with my choice and quality of finish. I will most likely re-wrap them again having learned some lessons with this first pass...

1) I would have done a better job of cutting the vinyl. More conturing cuts on the backside. I basically cut a rectangle and wrapped from there cutting excess, but that worked only okay. I should have accounted for the corners better. What not contour cutting it did was "gather" the vinyl in the corners. This did not allow the vinyl to lay completely flat. So I think over time its going to collect dirt, the dirt is going to get under the wrap and peel.. Also washing may do the same thing. Pay note to left guard, on the bottom…. Also don't "overstretch" the vinyl on the backside. Make sure it lays flat. Otherwise it will lift and unless you use glue it will lift and the edge sealer won't do its job...

2) I would paint them first. Mainly for the purpose of making the backside color match. Meaning I'd spray the whole thing black then wrap the fronts only. And wouldn't bother with cutting a small piece to put on the backside. Again, otherwise at certain angles you can see the natural color of the fiberglass.

3) BE CAREFUL with the Edge Sealer!!!! I didn't now what to expect, I thought it would be basically invisible. Its not and its caustic to the vinyl to some degree. It kinda melts the vinyl a bit.. Now thats good for its intended purpose until you get it where you don't want it. My fault, I wasn't as careful as I should have been and got a couple drops on the front side finish. So up close it looks like a couple drops of clear lacquer got on it. I also accidentally touched the front of one of the pieces with the brush and tried to wipe it off. DON'T DO IT! I mentioned it was caustic? Well, trying to rub it off, just removes the faux CF finish….meaning it melts the CF relief an leaves a smudge of black vinyl.

So, as I mentioned I really am happy with the guards themselves, but would have done things a little different on the finish. The beauty is its just a wrap so I will probably do it when this current wrap peels…

You can see the smudge I speak of on the bottom left close to the brake rotor if you enlarge the photo.

I'm going to meet up today with a group of S10 riders, once they see mine, I'm sure you going to have a few more orders!

Finally got round to wrapping mine today and fitted transfers. Very very happy and if there are any doubters in the UK, don't worry the quality of product from Dan is fantastic and he shipped over here to UK no problems . I've just got to pick up stainless fasteners and washers tomorrow and I'll be mounting them up on my bike .
