I was riding with a mate on a Triumph 1050 supersport on a trip and he had new panniers. He has a dry humour but this time he was serious when he said "the warning in the panniers says max speed 130kmh but I just did 229kmh and no problem". We all laughed but he was just reporting a fact. My H&B panniers also had a 130kmh max speed written in the safety precautions.

It changes depending on the state, goes from the standard 55MPH to 85MPH. (roughly ~90KM/H to ~140KM/H) . . . .
Yeah, you get out in the middle of nowhere Texas, and the posted limit is 80mph. And, I think there's a toll road down by Austin that 85mph. But, you can almost watch your fuel gauge dropping at those speeds if you're in a car/truck.

I rented a S10 from Eagle Rider Seattle. I noticed quite a drop in gas mileage above 85MPH, when riding through Montana.

My 52 Liter Givi Trekker top case and I have allegedly seen north of 110mph on occasion, no wind turbulence or associated handling issues.
