AC, I'm afraid you provided a link to the real *RACE* Desmosedici's that folks like Capirossi, Bayliss, Melandri, Stoner, Gibernau, Rossi, Hayden, etc. have ridden... I can only dream about having one of those. No, mine is one of the plain-jane, mundane street 2008 Ducati Desmosedici D16RR's.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ducati_Desmosedici_RR

Had to order it in advance, much like the Super Tenere, only I had to get in line in the summer of 2006 and my Desmosedici wasn't delivered until July of 2008. I bought it new, and I still have it. It actually lives in my dining room now, "pickled" for really long-term storage.

Mine's one of the all-red ones, just like I ordered it, and it's... shall we say... pretty entertaining to ride. ;)

I'd imagine that will set you back a bit more than $72.5k!

Any idea where those machines wound up? I'm going to assume Ducati has one in their museum. Stoner take the other one home?

Stop with the teasing and show us her !

Seriously, I don't have any pictures while I was ever out riding the D16RR... Just never carried a camera.

Here's a pic when it used to live sitting in the hallway outside my office at our shop:

And here's the last time it was ever outdoors... When I transported it from my shop (which I had just shut down) to my home, along with my XR1200:

It's lived in air-conditioning literally it's whole life except when it was being ridden, and it has only been ridden when the weather has been perfect, right down to the right temperature and humidity.

Hell, it's not just fun to ride, but just to sit and look at. ;)

I'm stoked that Yamaha didn't apologize to the "motorcycle press".
Agreed,
And very curious what "they" will write up in the next six months.....

Refinement, instead.
All the refinements I have been contemplating of late.....

Pondering until March 2014 for a dealer update on pricing and color.....

Sorry for the thread-detour, but I was blissfully unaware they had released a street-going version of THAT alien.

I'm guessing "they" will write, "Nice try, Yamaha. The 2014 Tenere gets some nice refinements, BUT falls short of the competition in the 'all-important, world-ending, why-doesn't-it-have-150hp?' department..."

Just a guess...

Agreed. If the price is right and assuming we had the two versions to choose from we'd all upgrade or add to the stable, wouldn't we?

I think that although they didn't set the world alight, Yamaha made good choices on the changes they made and the after market already takes care of the other things such as skid plates, crash bars, gps, etc.

Also, I think the stripped version is a great idea - get one and add the farkles you want without paying for stuff you're going to replace, such as a plastic luggage rack, grab handles, etc.

I can't seem to find if it comes with heated grips stock or not? I have '13 FJR and the new S10 will use the same switch gear. The heated grips on the FJR are well integrated into the LCD menu and there's no separate heated grips button, temps are selected from the menu and selector switch.. any idea if the S10 will come with heated grips?

There has been no indication that heated grips will be standard fare on the new 2014 Super Tenere. Having already added electronic suspension and cruise control, Yamaha is probably trying to keep the price point down as much as possible.

They talk of heated grips as part of the ZE model package here. Probably won't know for sure till they arrive on the show room floor.

Thanks, Erik. I read somewhere that the ST sold pretty well there and in Belgium. Is that true?
Anyway, I noticed that the OEM luggage seems to be the same. Hope that they made the locks more robust.

I just found the link on e German S10 forum so no thanks Salmon Sam. I don't think Yamaha can complain here about the selling. Compared to the GS it's nothing but in the summer you can spot them daily.
The locks....... ::002:: we will see.
