So i got a message my mate at my bike shop told me Yamaha are about to send me a letter about a recall for my 2015 ZE. Aparantly some parts need changing imediatly .... he's gone on holiday so i havn't got any more info.
Anyone know whats going on ?

Well, my dealer ran the VIN number and my bike is not included in the recall. I guess it is my downshifting skill that needs a recall... ::010::

Look up any of the dozen or so threads about cleaning and lubing the shifter pivot at the left foot peg.

Got my recall notice yesterday. The shift cam segment stopper on the transmission shift shaft was incorrectly manufactured with a sharp edge on the inside of it's bend, rather than a smooth radius...blah blah blah. Could break and cause shifting problems. called the local dealer and he's ordering the parts. No biggie.

Are you able to post the part number that's being recalled. I'd like to see what we're talking about. Thank you.

Mine was recalled. The dealer notification/ technical service bulletin allows 1 hour of labor. I think clutch removal is required and if done with the bike on the side stand, oil draining is not required. kit comes with shaft, gasket, bolts, nut and clips.

Sorry about that. I made a quick search before I started the thread to see if it had been mentioned, but I must have missed it.

I was at a Horizons Unlimited event in Virginia over the weekend.

A Yamaha dealer from Maryland told everyone at the event with a 2014 - 15 S-10 that he just received a factory recall on a gear in the transmission that was failing.

Anyone else heard about this...........or was he blowing smoke up our a$$.

I visited my dealer Saturday Dreyer in Indy, and they had 2 Tenere and 2 FZ09 sitting marked do not sell recall. Waiting for parts before they will release them.

In some markets Yamaha has put the parts on hold as some big dealers had placed large orders when they didn't have any bikes to fix.

If your dealer is looking at the parts computer and sees the kit as "available in June" then the dealer needs to issue a warranty claim. Once the VIN has been verified as one of the affected bikes then Yamaha will issue the parts to the dealer.

I'm in the UK. When I phoned my dealer after receiving a letter from Yamaha (MT09 Tracer delivered in the first week of March) he was able to order the parts immediately.

Yeap maybe it can work, but the problem is that Yamaha prohibited to sell the bike until fixed. Dealer couldn't even let me drive it once. I was supposed to pick it up the day the world collided. Like the letter said no dealer can sell any bike in the description until all are fixed up and mine is there.

Lots of crying and whining going on. Most of the original members that did the pre order back in 2011 and early 2012 had to wait 5-6 extra months for there bike. It's a great bike so ::021:: and it will be well worth the wait.
