i wonder if it will be as bad as the Roadstar Warrior transmission clip that needed to be replaced, but needed a case split in order to do so. Luckly mine was a 2004 and didn't need the recall

don't thinking they will have to split the case if im reading it right if their only replacing the shift shaft it can be done by just removing the clutch basket

Have we seen/heard of any issues in an S10? I don't recall reading issues that went back to this on the forum...

Looks like a limited number of the 2015 bikes only.

And note that Yamaha issued this pre-emptively, it's not a forced move by NHTSA or some other country's Govt.

As this is an intent to recall, Yamaha is likely waiting on the CPSC to sign off and make it an official recall. At that point, the notification letters will go out. The notice says any affected units should not be sold or operated until the update can be performed. I'm told parts kits to address the issue are already prepared and ready to go, so any down time may be minimal.

it is only 140 odd S10 bikes. Most of the faulty components seem to have hit the FJ/FZ/MT09 production line.

Those 140 bikes may not even be in the showrooms yet as I have not heard about any *sold* FJ09 bikes being affected, but a couple of US buyers have been told their order is on hold until the bike they were allocated has been fixed.

I just happened to see the post by wessie. so I called my dealer that sold me my 2015 Super Tenere. Unfortunately my 2 week old bike with less than 200 miles is one of the few .Most of the recent posts here are correct. Waiting for government approval, parts already available, and a "no big deal" fix. Thanks to wessie for the heads up. I probably wouldn't have known for a while otherwise.

How do I check if my number is listed? I don't know what the number ranges correspond to. My VIN has a lot more numbers than the range posted.

the service note has missed off the first characters of the VIN - my FJ09 has JYA in front of the alphanumeric string beginning with R

For the Super Tenere, you will have a VIN with 3 letters at the start, probably beginning with J as I think all S10s are made in Japan. You are looking for the last 11 characters beginning with D. Cross reference that to see if the number is in the range given in the images above.

If this is still not clear then phone your dealer. Note, this is only for very recently made bikes such that pe4496 owns.

It's about 400 of the 2015 bikes, most of which are still in Yamaha or dealer possession.

Well, I have a 2015 ST and something is screwy with the shifter for sure. At times, when downshifting it will simply fail to do so. I better call my dealer to check on that recall.....:-(

Absolutely call. Having been through a number of recalls on various bikes, MamaYama has been very good to deal with. Let us know how it goes.

Got my recall notice yesterday. The shift cam segment stopper on the transmission shift shaft was incorrectly manufactured with a sharp edge on the inside of it's bend, rather than a smooth radius...blah blah blah. Could break and cause shifting problems. called the local dealer and he's ordering the parts. No biggie.
