Yea, I'm gonna be watching too. Not because CC is something I currently yearn to have, but more so because that "other FJR cluster" is LOADED with buttons and potential gadgetry.

Would be cool to move all the instrument panel functions to the cluster. And I bet auxiliary lights could use up another couple of buttons.
Geez Louise Snake, now that gives me an idea for extra buttons. I'm thinking FJR cluster on the right, Euro ST cluster on the left...one of the two hazard buttons can supplement the dash buttons...the FTP switch on the Euro cluster will replace the toggle in the Baja Designs wiring harness for flipping the bar light between 50 and 100%...

I think you need "momentary" button for dashboard controls. The hazard button on my FJR is a 2 position button. Push once, closed circuit. Push again, open circuit.

The flash-to-pass style button would be perfect for dash control. But we need 3 buttons in total for complete transposing?

I'm OK without the Traction Control button, since you have to be stopped to change it anyway...

TC button is the one I really want at my thumb. I have to live with coming to a stop. But wish I didn't need to go to neutral and then reach over\around the bars.

Just a quick stop, thumb it, go!

So spoiled, I am.

Yes, it is.

On the front side of the switch (front of bike) there is a switch like a flash to pass switch that controls the menu screens.
This side has the switch on the top that controls screen/heated grips and various things on the menu screens.
The light switch on the left has the flash to pass built in (push it down).
The CC is turned on with the switch down by the horn button and then controlled by that obvious switch.

My hope is to use the normal Rostra control pad wires to mate to the Yamaha switch wires for a weather proof switch unit. The momentary front switch, (what was flash to pass), as perhaps something interesting, (aux light flash?) I may remove the top momentary rocker switch, install a blanking plate of plastic or aluminum, and hopefully install my Heat-Troller knob there, (pretty much where I have it now on the Super Ten switch housing).
For a "free" forum, it sure has cost me a lot of money! I could see using both FJR clusters, wiring up the right side like SB did, then using the left side for aftermarket cruise, the front menu button for TC, the top rocker button for the two gauge buttons (one direction changes between the meters, the other switches the temp/mileage readouts), the FTP will trigger both the stock high beams and the aux lights I'm looking at (currently leaning towards Clearwater Darlas under the headlights). The only thing missing from my other plan is an extra switch to control the SIIs I plan on mounting on Jaxon's brackets.....decisions, decisions.....

AVGeek........

No thanks for bumping this thread. I'm trying hard NOT to figure out all the clever ways to use the left side FJR cluster for Tenere functions.

But your considerations are excellent. :(
No way to ignore.

I love the factory look of OEM switchgear over all the addon aftermarket switches we are forced to use.

My own dealer never said a word about my FJR switch. I really don't think they realized it was changed. It is still Yamaha switches. :)

I have not seen the left-hand FJR switch cluster in person and the closest dealer is a 100 miles away, so I am trying to figure out what switches are in the unit. From the pics is looks like:

1. Turn Signals
2. Horn button
3. Cruise Control On/Off button (next to horn). Is this a momentary contact switch or a push on/push off switch?
4. Low/High/Flash-to-Pass - looks like you press the rocker down to flash.
5. Cruise control rocker (to the right of the low/high/flash rocker) - I assume these are just two momentary contacts?
6. Looks like some sort of rocker on the top of the switch. Cannot make out what that is (or used for on the FJR) and if it is just momentary contact(s) or not?

Is there any others on this switch cluster?

Thanks.

You guys are animals! I'll try and get to this shortly.

Switches - You were close.

1. Turn signals, (as normal)
2. Horn (as normal)
3. Cruise Control On/Off (this is a momentary switch, by the feel of it)
4. Low/Hi/Flash to pass (hoping this works w/o any fuss)
5. Cruise Control rocker, (yes, momentary up and momentary down, just like any other CC, up doubling as Resume and down doubling as Set)
6. Rocker switch on top, above the CC +/- that is momentary in each direction. This is for cycling thru the menu on the multifunction screen on the FJR. (potentially could be used for TCS?)
7. In the 'normal' flash to pass front location is a momentary switch of the same type as flash to pass. This activates the menu field, which you then scroll thru with the #6.

I may remove #6 and fab up a blanking plate, then install my heated grip Heat-Troller knob there. I'd love to figure out a way to use the flash to pass to control my aux lights in some way.

Pictures to follow.

Some pictures -

Note the menu button that is on the front of the switch assembly and the top rocker switch. These are all momentary switches to select and scroll thru the multifunction display on the FJR.

Front view. They give you 33" of harness, plus the plugs. 18 wires, 12 alone to the upper half of the switch!

The first casualty of curiosity, the zip tie that prevented me from pulling more wire out of the harness to open up the two halves. That strain relief will be replaced when I'm done installing this.

The two halves opened up. Two screws come with the switch. Note the bar clamp inside that has it's own screws. And everything is covered by some kind of retaining plate.

Two plugs, lots of wires.

The black retaining plate is held in by one screw, and four small quick release tabs, one at each corner.

The inside of the top half, with the rocker switch on top removed.

This will be fun to figure out with the multimeter. ???

I'll start a new thread for the CC install with the left side FJR switch housing. But I'm here to tell you, it's not going to be a simple install. To start with, there are no wires or plug for the clutch switch and no plug or wires going to the horn in the FJR switch unit.

I'm going to have to identify each switch wiring, then possibly separate the wires out of the harness to run to the horn. Not sure if I'll have to separate the old harness to get the clutch switch plug and wiring or not.

Some pics -

S10 harness on top, FJR on bottom.

Plug ends.

Switch housing ends. Note the clutch switch plug on the S10 harness, and lack of one on the FJR harness.

Resurrection of an ole thread.....

I'm doing the Versys left cluster for the hazards and the FJR1300 right cluster for the newer starter/kill switch and the other hazards. On the FJR1300 cluster hazard switch; I want to use the hazard switch for my driving lights. If I wire this up to and for my driving lights, then will the blink as hazards blink? Or do the hazards use the flashers that the turn signals use? Thank You in advance!

I got the Versys left control and the FJR1300 right control for $40 USD each on ebay and both came from new bikes!

To make lights blink, you need a flasher unit. Without it, they will stay lit the entire time.

What AV Geek said. The fjr switch is just on/off and will work fine for your project. Do use a relay though!

Finished this mod today! Thank You for this! I haven't used the Flasher wires yet. I'm still deciding on Auxiliary lights.
Hardest part was figuring out how to get the pins out of the plug. I figured it out by cutting open the FJR plug. Once I had it figured it out...went smooth and quick!

Did the Versys KLE650 mod on the left and have the 4 way flashers and flash to pass connected.bot

Nice part of these mods is I was able to extend the length of both of the harnesses for the switches. I have risers and the harnesses were at their limits. I gave them a little more play. The FJR harness is longer than the S10 by about 2 inches. (But not the brake light switches as they are reused.)

A little observation.....Both right and left side instructions I followed here were from fellow Texans!
