...Looooove Triumph.!

This might be quite a brute though, with it's triple mill (*which is to die for*).

Might be a canyon carver AND a mile muncher

time will tell...

That Triumph is absolutely superb. I may end up with one of those. I keep threatening to replace my entire stable with Triumphs.

I wouldn't bet on that. The current 2012 1050 Tigers are $13,400 with bags, handguards, and ABS. A S10 with bags is currently $15,590. The new bike will have a price hike, but I doubt it will be a $2200 price hike. My bet it that it will undercut the S10 by $500 or so.

The S10s are $12,600 here in Indiana..............oh, and looking at the video above, Victory should FIRE that gay designer

Was set to pull the trigger on the Yamaha but may have to wait a few months to see and ride the Triumph.

Welcome to the forum! What are you riding now? How about posting an intro over in the "Member intro" section.

Currently on a Goldwing. Have had sport bikes from Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki and Ducati. Lots of dirt bikes. Planing to spend 6 months on a bike in 2014. Thinking one of these big ADV bikes may be way to go.

Where do they grow those girls from Milan? As for the Tiger - it'll sell well. UK dealers are predicting £11500 max. That's with ABS, TCS and cruise control. The Ten, over here is £13000. Which is why you don't see too many. The nature of the triple motor will win many friends. Triumph are quoting 135bhp @ 9000, with 121nm of torque @6400. As a comparison, the Ten puts out 110 bhp @ 7200rpm and 114nm @ 6000. I still like the nature of the Yamaha motor though. Nice and punchy low down. One of the reasons i didn't like the Tiger 800 i demo'd was the busy, thrash happy Triple 800. Too much for the type of bike.

I rode one for over an hour and thought it was one of the smoothest and nicest motors I've ever ridden. You do have to rev it a bit to make power, but then no 800 makes huge power down low. YMMV.

I think the Triumph will be great for the UK if the adventure bike tests they do are anything to go by.
There is no need for any off road ability, just the looks. Comfort for B roads and space for overnights at pubs. Would probably be a better bike for that than even the standard GS.

I have yet to swing a leg over the little Triumph, but it seems so far to be a road bike in disguise, which I think is a tad too nervous for some of the stuff I would be doing. I must be one of the few people that find the sound of the motor annoying though.

The ADV-style bikes are big news for all manufacturers now. As a long time proponent, i'm chuffed to see so much choice. One time, all you heard about over here was bloody sportsbikes. Now more and more people are coming to realise that having a comfy perch, nimble handling and a half decent tank range is just as much fun. From some of the posts you guys in the States and Oz make, i can see that you boys definitely need the more off road type of bike. Over here, many of us have sports / sports touring bikes in our past, so we look at the more road performance tackle, which is why the MTS12 did so well. More diverse offering can only be a good thing.

The S10 is a Southern Hemisphere bike, and I am glad it was set up the way it was. And yes it's good to see different bikes set up for different compromises. All the way from KTM to an MTS. Just lately though, it seems a few are piling onto the Street end of the equation.

But as people say, that is where most people will be using a big pig, so it's probably OK.

So who is missing?

Looks like all the big boys have a toe in the water now.

I had a chance to sit on it at the San Mateo show. Top Heavy was my impression. Took me three tries to get it off the side stand. That wa a bit embarassing until a big 6'-4" guy took two tries and opened his eyes a lot with that "wow this is heavy" look. Lots of plastic sticking way out on the sides around the tank. Nice bars though and you can never fault that triple motor

Still like my Tenere better ::022::

I will ride one, along with the new Honda, as a predominantly road rider (with a liking for the lesser used roads) these will probably be OK for me.

I would have more faith in Honda than Triumph, who have a pretty poor reputation for not honouring warranty claims, and with a brand new model nothing has yet been tested, at leadt the Honda is built upon the VFR technology, not sure if Triumph have ever built a single sided shaft bike before?

For a lot of two-up I must admit I find figures of 130+ BHP appealing as I feel the Tenere (and GS for that matter) can be a bit flat fully loaded and two-up on faster roads.

With both of these newcomers it will come down to price, as already stated the original price of the Super Tenere was ridiculous (£13k) at the £10k they have been punting them for lately it seems about right, but if the Triumph (or Honda) is well spec'd and under £13k it will be quite appealing - no more than GS with ABS / Traction Control - lets hope they don't want another £400 for heated grips either!
