The triples are fantastic motors. Smooth, with a torque curve that is practically flat.

I think price is going to play a huge factor with Triumph's entry. There is no way it'll be priced as low as the S10.

Just as with the Cross Tourer from Honda. I don't see either one being that close.

I wouldn't bet on that. The current 2012 1050 Tigers are $13,400 with bags, handguards, and ABS. A S10 with bags is currently $15,590. The new bike will have a price hike, but I doubt it will be a $2200 price hike. My bet it that it will undercut the S10 by $500 or so.

I like the new generation Triumphs, I think this one will be a hit for them
Finally the big adventure touring bikes are finding their way to the U.S, bout time.
The more choices we have, the better the choices will become thru competition.

did i miss the part on actual size of engine? I love my Speed Triple and enjoy the engine as well. Wonder if they are going to bump up the CC's a bit

The rumor is 1200cc on this bike. The Triumph Trophy is a new 1200cc with shaft drive, and I imagine they used the same exact drivetrain on the new Tiger. Maybe a different gearbox, but the shaft and engine are most likely identical.

950 watt generator!!! At least you can run your microwave at camp.... ::025::

I like it. Still wouldn't be my cup o' tea but I like the choices besides BMW that are coming to market... ::012::

The competition will help us all AND we're finally getting some bikes that are real world useable as opposed to the last decade of cruisers ad nauseum.

I've owned three Triumphs and still have one. It's a good thing that there reliable for the most part. Dealers are far and few between and my dealer often has trouble getting parts in a timely manner. That's what drove me towards the Yamaha.

The perspective from OZ..

The current Tiger 800XC with ABS etc is only about $500 - $800 cheaper than the S10 ($19,990 Ride away) ATM.

The Tiger 1050 is WAY cheaper ATM and priced the same as a DL1000. ($13,500)

I expect the New 1200cc Triumph to be expensive where I live. ($22,000 before you get ANY useful things like ABS or centre stands added)

We will see. But typically it will have a 40% tosser Tax on top and people will still line up.

Secondly, I actually like the CrossDresser and BMW better in the looks department, except front on where the BMW still looks Goofy.

But that is just Me,
I think the S10 is a good looker and doesn't have a beak, which is a plus.

Cheers
Graham

I'm a big fan of Triumph triples. If this had come out before the Ténéré, I might have jumped on it. For years I'd been waiting for them to replace the Trophy with a modern triple with shaft drive, and I would have liked an adventure tourer better. Oh, well, too late I think. I'm hooked now ::022::

Still love my Street Triple, though.

IMHO the triple is the perfect engine design, grunt, revs, sound, character, love them. That said, haven't met a Triumph dealer worth a damn. Around here they are BMW dealers that treat Triumphs as second class bikes. As for the price, the 1050 Tiger hasn't exactly flew off of showroom floors despite being a great sport tourer and they are now ending their 5th year. Price of the new one is likely going to be on par with BMW, perhaps slightly less. The biggest issue with my past Tiger was the top heavy feel. They will have their work cut out to match the balance of the Tenere. But did I say how wonderful the triples are?

Love my Tiger 1050. Great motor. Great combination of grunt, torque, top end, in one compact, fairly light package. Probably one of the best. I'm keeping my Tiger (but it's no ST, neither does it appear that the new 1200 will be either).
