The rotor sensor came in... Got it replaced ans still no speed reading..
This thing is really killing me!
Next step probably the ECU... But that definitely gonna be a ouch...
Not sure if you plan on getting the ECU checked out or replaced, but bear in mind that replacement of the ECU would also mean key coding (if immobiliser installed) or new key set and barrel...... that would be an OUCH!

Why do you suspect the ECU, rather than the instrument module (i read all the messages and didn't see any justification for ruling out the instrument panel)? Is there no-one near you that could try plugging in their instrument panel on your bike to see if it then shows the speed? Then you could rule out the display or know that it is the display that is faulty. Maybe you could send your display to someone with a Tenere and they plug it in on their bike and see if the speedo works? Takes a bit longer than just buying parts and replacing them, but would be cheaper!!

Any reason to not use a GPS for a speedometer and forget the factory one?
The engine check light, abs and tcs lights up when the no speed reading comes out.. Looks irritating with 3 lights on :D

Hi Gary,

You could be right... However, everything is working except the speed... Fuel readings, temperature etc...

I was thinking if i should get the front abs sensor replaced too to have a try... But its like keep on spending the bucks without a clear direction to pin point onto the problem.

You can get on some gravel or just a wet road and hit the brakes to see if the abs sensors are working.

The front sensor is not causing the speed to not register. The rear is used for that. Looking at the service manual, there doesn't seem to be any real advise how to troubleshoot or even how the speedometer really functions, but going by logic which sometimes is purely guesswork, it appears the rear wheel sensor feeds into the ECU where the info is gathered and sent to the instruments. It looks like the ECU is not seeing any rotation of the rear wheel, hence the ABS light and no speed reading, so it appears if the wiring, the rear sensor ect have all been ruled out, the ECU seems most logical as the problem but still would be a rare way to see ECU fail. They have for sure checked wires ect all the way from the sensor to the ECU?
Good luck.

ABS are not working since there is no speed reading.

yuh somehow i hope its the wires instead of ECU. I have actually asked the previous mechanic to do a check and he claimed all ok...
Have send the bike to another workshop to check instead...

Funny thing... There is not port to plug in for diagnostics? This other bike shop i send to they do have the diagnostic tools however unable to find the port to plug into.

Diagnostics plug is under the rider seat, in a plastic bag....
Checked with the mechanic, he claimed that this version (2010) doesn't have a port. Feeling strange...

My 2012 and 2016 both have it. Look up diagnostic plug in the search area you will find it. And change your mechanic.

Now the mechanic say 80% is the ECU inside the ABS that is faulty thats why it didnt send signal to the main ECU.

An update, i checked with the main dealer in Singapore.. This 2010 model doesnt tab to the diagnostics port for results..
Its read at the instrument cluster itself.

One thing not mentioned here is to check wheel bearings for play or movement. The speed sensor runs off of a air gap with the tone wheel on the wheel hub. If there is excessive play the ECU will get a erratic reading and thus turn on the light. Another way to check and maybe your mech. did this is to unplug the ECU and check the ABS sensor with a ohm meter. The sensor puts out a AC signal when the wheel is moving. The faster you spin the wheel the higher the signal and so on. Just one way to eliminate the wiring from the sensors to the ECU.
