    2012 Super Tenere For Sale

Hey gang. I'm posting my black 2012 Super Tenere for sale. I've got three bikes now and need to thin the herd. Here is a list of important features and farkles. It has about 19,800 miles on it currently. It will need a couple of tires within about 1,000 mi. I would guess. Safety recall has...

    Dark brake fluid

You are right. After getting it off the centerstand, it seems to run like it is supposed to and the clutch now is (hopefully) air free. ::012:: doctorj

    Dark brake fluid

Here is a followup. I did all the suggestions. I finally got the clutch lever to "feel right". This morning on the centerstand I started the bike and could shift into first and back to neutral. But in first gear, the rear tire still spins about 8 mph even with the clutch lever pulled in. I...

    SuperTech 6607...where?????

I guess wal mart couldn't get a good deal from Champion who makes their super tech line. The purolators are "classic" and not pure ones so I get the baby crap yellow pure ones at Advance Auto and paint em black. Doctorj

    Dark brake fluid

I need some advice. I have done many brake and clutch bleeding on many bikes, but I guess since the clutch reservoir has so small of a volume, I got air in the line. I have repeatedly added fluid and followed the service manual in how to clear the air. But I still have a lever with almost no...

    Brake and clutch levers...

I had a set a while back for the XT1200Z but put them on my Black FJR so now just ordered another set for the Tenere. $35 with shipping is great. I have a set of pazzo levers on the ST1300 that I put on about 5 years ago. I can't tell any difference, except I paid about $180 for that set :(...

    Corbin seat

Well I've ridden several hundred miles now, and I like it better than before. I still have to give it the 700-800 mile day but think they did a good job with the seat. Good for Corbin. doctorj

    Corbin seat

I've only ridden about 150 mi. on the new corbin but I like the firmness on longer rides. It cups the derriere well and does feel like a better seat than stock. I don't notice any problem with forward canting and use one foot on the highway peg to keep my butt pushed back well into the sweet...

What you did to your Tenere today??!!

I put a new Corbin on. It is plain with no stich pattern since I like it and easier to clean and shine. Not ridden it yet since just did it this evening in garage, but it sure felt good to sit on there. It looks just like the one on their web site without a stich pattern so no need for pics...

    Gauge cluster sun damage ?

Re: Melted Tenere I wonder if putting some strips of black electrical tape across the bottom 1/3 of the windscreen would effectively stop this. I use electrical tape on the top of my face shields to block early morning sun and late afternoon sun so maybe found another use for it. doctorj

    Gauge cluster sun damage ?

Re: Melted Tenere Yes, I also have had some melting of that spot with my windshield and the Wasp bracket. I cut out some black plastic pieces to cover that area (like you make numbers for dirt bikes in competition) so hope those don't melt too. I'm gonna put my gloves in that spot when leave...

    Corbin seat

Hmmm, I didn't know I could do that through a dealer. I just got mine in today. I got it without a stitch pattern since that is the way I've had others and like that look and easier to keep clean with leather cleaner. I've sat on it only after putting it on this evening but feels really good...

    Corbin seat

I decided to go with the Corbin since didn't want to be without a saddle for weeks if sent to Mayer or Russell. Will wait and see. BTW, even with Mayer or Russell some peeps aren't happy either so it is kind of hit or miss. doctorj

    Helmet Lock?

I've been using a combinatin lock cable thingie that I just leave on the Altrider rear rack and put it through the chin bar of the helmet. The only way the helmet can be stolen is if they cut the cable. If they do that, then they can cut a D ring too if I use any other type of lock. So my way...

    spokes

Re: discolouring spokes I live near the ocean so this thread reminded me again to rub all the bolts, spokes etc down with WD40 weekly. Thanks for reminder. I could go to stainless steel spokes and may in time but keeping WD40 on them is easier and cheaper. doctorj

    First Ride Home from Dealer

I felt the same way after I rode off from the dealer. Now that I've got over 8,000 miles on it, the engine has really broken in well and feels much smoother. i thought it was a thumper on the first ride. I still have my 08 FJR, but the XTZ is more comfortable to ride. I may get different...

What you did to your Tenere today??!!

Well color me envious. I'm thinking of the Russell myself. I'm also in eastern NC (New Bern) so where are you? I'd like to see it when you get in on the bike. If your size and weight aren't too far from mine, I can get an idea how it feels. I'm 6'1" and about 212 lb. doctorj

Any Corbin Saddle Experience Out there???

Hmmm, never heard of this one. BTW, I did hear from Russell that if you send in just the front seat on the XTZ it is an S1 price code ($375 if all vinyl not counting shipping). Corbin is $387 but is leather. Yep, decisions, decisions. doctorj
