    HARD START

Mine did this again (for the second time in ~40,000 miles) last week. I pulled the EFI fuse, went WOT, tried every combination of crank without fuse, put it back, WOT, do the same no WOT...ad nauseaum for a week. Then I replaced the battery. And it still wouldn't start until I cranked and...

Yamaha dealer with best service department

For the record, I had the same fears about not wanting to let a Tenere virgin do my valves. This led me to doing it myself. It wasn't as bad as I expected. There are some great tutorials on this site and the cylinder cover isn't as big of a PITA as I had feared. I did my CBR600RR and it took...

    Rear Axle - double failure

I have had several odd experiences with rear axles. I was tightening the rear axle on my SV650 one day before I left on a trip and as I torqued it to spec, all of the threads literally just uncoiled off of the axle shaft. More recently, I was adjusting the chain on my dad's FZ-06 and the nut...

No idle and high idle problem

I filed my complaint and have no idea why it wouldn't be registered.

File a complaint with NHTSA Voice your safety concern Dead or High Idle issues.

So I finally got around to finding my VIN# and submitted my complaint. I focused on the two experiences I documented on this forum in the past in which the bike failed to respond to closing the throttle. I had a Prius experience in which the bike wouldn't slow in response to the throttle being...

Thanks Ramseybella for doing the leg work on this. As soon as I get off my butt and get my VIN, I'll file my complaint. It really is dangerous and unacceptable. There's really nothing like the experience of rolling off to slow for a corner you are taking aggressively and finding out that the...

Engine died suddenly and fault code 60 shows on dash

The problem seems to come and go. As I mentioned, I cleaned the connection well and it seems to be OK at present. I agree about the potential fire risk and I know someone else on the forum had the same connector melt and take out a bunch of other stuff. I'm not amused with the bike (gen 1...

Engine died suddenly and fault code 60 shows on dash

So I spent some time yesterday and found the same problem I've had in the past, I think.... Anyway, I took off the side cover and pulled out the big white connector that leads to the ground and that hides just above/beside the battery. I started the bike and started moving around wires. I...

Engine died suddenly and fault code 60 shows on dash

I've wondered about the coil issue. I have two that have leaked for years. Every time I replace a plug, it's a nasty corroded white/rusty mess. The IR thermometer is a great idea. Next time it does it, I'll check to see if both cylinders are firing at lower revs.

Engine died suddenly and fault code 60 shows on dash

Brief update...I just went out and took the side panel off and checked some contacts/fuses, etc. My bike has had a very very irritating intermittent problem in which it suddenly runs at low rpms (800) or high rpms (3500). Sometimes it dies, but usually it happens after it has been warmed up...

Engine died suddenly and fault code 60 shows on dash

So I appear to be stuck at work. I just pulled back into my parking lot and upon downshifting into 1st the engine just shut off and it showed a 60 on the dash-not in diagnostic mode, just shows 60. I shut it off, did the WOT cranking thing and no love. It was running fine and then just quit...

    Adjustment at First Valve Check

I think I re-shimmed all 4 exhaust valves since 3 were tight and I had the cams out anyway. FWIW, on my Yamaha FZ-09, people are reporting very tight valves from the factory and mine were surprisingly tight at 13K (1st check not recommended until 26K). So I call BS on the max service interval...

Siblings: Does your S10 have a lil' brother?

Where does this snap-ring go? SOLVED!

Re: Where does this snap-ring go? Could it be off the shift shaft?

What does the starter relay-cutoff do?

The answer to my own question is: no, the starter-cutoff didn't fail. Yamaha fails! In spite of a new battery, pulling the fuel pump fuse and clearing the "flooded" situation I may have caused by cranking, recharging the new battery after cranking and cranking, the bike still wouldn't start...
