So what’s wrong with the Vice ? I very rarely use the Vice but it seems to work fine when I do use it.
Nothing is wrong with the vice. The Condor Chock is easier and safer in my opinion for two main reasons.
1. Much easier to ride the bike up on the lift and right into the chock which then holds your bike upright. You get off without having to use a kickstand.
2. Since the bike is held upright as you look at it without holding it... all you do then is get your safety straps out to more securely hold the bike upright while you're working on it. No more balancing a bike while screwing in the vice to hold the bike.
3. With 4 thumb screws I can remove the chock entirely. Because of that feature I can now do front wheel work, Forks, etc without trying to muscle my bikes up backwards on the lift. There are no obstructions to the front tire.
4. Without the vice or the chock on the lift it is a simple matter of parking a bike on the lift as I have multiple bikes. Therefore when the lift isn't in service it is not wasted floor space. I don't worry about the vice being in the way. I just have to be sure not to drop a wheel off the front. Easily done... or I just ride up the lift and into the chock and then I get off. Bike is parked... so safety, ease of use and being able to do front end work without pushing a bike backwards up the ramp are the main reasons I swapped to a Condor Chock.
