So I actually went the "fanless" route. These are a couple hundred lumens lower but no moving parts and also a night a day difference between the stock halogens.

Also, keep in mind that most of the LED's in this thread are listed as "water proof" with an IP rating...so technically you shouldn't need the extended caps UNLESS you get some glare at night. If you have a dash infill it's possible you won't get glare. My brother is running the same without any caps and no problems.

Very cool. The stock bulbs have survived me over a year and 10k miles with no issues other than not being bright enough for night riding! This installation would be easier and much cheaper than installing auxiliary LEDs.

dmulk, did you decide on fan-less based on longevity of service? If they both need the cap I'd think the one with a fan would last longer in theory? LED lighting in these applications are pretty new so I guess it's usually a crapshoot what works and what doesn't.

Paying for my mistake of not checking YST before pulling trigger on Cyclops. Just installed the Cylops a couple weeks ago:oops::mad:

Yeah, didn't like the idea of a moving part in dusty conditions....I guess that's the IT guy in me. lol That said, the fan models that are listed above also appear to be IP68 (waterproof) rated as well. So...YMMV. At $35ish for a pair... (and most have a 2 year warranty) who cares. They still seem to put out more light than halogen. Quite happy with my light setup now (see my thread under the technical lighting section on here).

I wouldn't say the Cyclops are a bad choice. I've read quite a few reviews of happy people. That said....it's really only a few tankfuls of gas difference....so who cares! You have much better light now and likely higher durability!

Waterproof lamps may be one thing, but your headlight assembly without those/any caps allows for ingress of dirt and water as the bulbs' seat is not occlusive.

Amazon has the Aukee brand led bulbs also, that sound promising. Excellent reviews. They are 50 watt ea. and one of the reviews included a video. Pretty impressive bright wise and good beam pattern. Built in fan.
Anyone familiar?

In the absence of the light caps, would wrapping the exposed bulb housing area with strong tape work to keep dust out?

Ok, stupid question time, but THAT link goes to a bulb with a fan. Does yours have a fan, or is this the wrong link?
When i click on the link it brings me to the fanless model. It's a heatsink only. There's no fan....at least in the model I got from this link...
