It was a little fussy to slide the spring clip over the bulb, then seat the bulb into the back of the lens, then secure the spring clip once I had the bulb located correctly. You could probably do it both ways, (remove the collar or not), so do what seems easiest to you.

Put mine in not long ago and removed the collars. As EricV offered, the fit is a tad fussy but you'll find the seat. Tried them at night for the first time a couple days ago on a tree-tunneled dark road and was very impressed.

bloody pain taking the headlight out though, i have a touratech screen bracket fitted as well whitch made the job longer, i also took the right panel off to unplug the light unit to get it off to the bulb change and put back.

Just confirming that the side bulbs are T10 / 194 wedge type?

Looking at the various LED options for those also. Found some nice Amber options also...

Hi, a bit late to this thread. I have a gen 1 (and have had the recall on the harness done) are these led's a straight swap out for the OE halogens, or is extra wiring involved? I've replaced the turn indicators with led's with built in running lights, that was fun;)

Well, got around to installing the corner LED lights....they are way brighter. We'll see how durable they are. They apparently have a two year warranty.

Here are some comparison photos:

Great looking install. I'm planning the same for my 2018 ES. I have SW Motech crash bars, so I'll probably mount my lights (very similar to yours) onto the crash bars. Please can you show me a close up picture of the mounting brackets. Where did you get the brackets??
Thanks p180pilot@yahoo.ca

Where did you get the mounting brackets for the lights mounted on the crash bars?

@SHUMBA - You seem to be struggling with light mounting ideas. Put down the tablet and use a computer, you'll see a lot more! ;)

The lights above are Yamaha H7 Halogen aux lights that bolt to the plastic front sub frame on the OEM mounting points designed for them. Because he has that set up, he was able to fit the Denali or SW Motech light mount bar for the aux lights.
SW Motech Denali

Another option for crash bar mounted lights is BDCW Not cheap, but very solid and adjustable.

BTW... Have you considered renting a trailer and bringing your bike home now? I'm not sure you can wait until April and you could use this time to add accessories.

Thanks for that EricV
Too early to bring the bike home, no where to store it. I just spent two and half hours chopping ice in my driveway this morning. Another snow storm on the way.
True, a computer gives a much better picture for details.
I've seen a few brackets, but unlike the SW Motech crash bars I had on my Africa Twin the Tenere crash bars (SW Motech) do no have any mounting holes for the light mount brackets, whereas the AT did. I have used bull bar brackets on another bike mounted to crash bars and aside from looking clunky they served the purpose and they're very solid and inexpensive. I have a new set of LEDs for my Tenere, purchased from an electrical supply store. These are 3540 lumens each and mount onto a bracket with a single bolt.
So, one can spend hundreds of dollars on Pia or Denali lights, but no thanks because there are other more cost effective ways to achieve the same or better end results.
When I get the bike home I will spend some time with it and decide what route to go.
All in all, I certainly appreciate any and every idea. So thanks again.
