Any oil freaks or petroleum chemists out there putting this additive in their bikes.......?
Is the benefit worth the Killing the Cat-alytic early?

Ummm...anything that kills a cat early is to be avoided, IMO.

Exactly what does this additive claim to do?

I recall it helps with cam lobe and bucket wear (ie helps delay it, reduces scuffing weat) but I could be wrong as to killing cats that would depend on where you are located (ie not everywhere test emissions or cat function on motorbikes).

A zinc and phosphate additive with great lubrication properties that apparently was a mainstay in old oils......with the OHC arrangement on newer engines, frictional wear seems to be less of an issue. Catalytic converters hate Zn and P so apparently that is the issue.....It was brought up on another forum for an attempted use to improve transmission clunking and shift transitions. Wondering if anyone has played with it relative to the clutch and vibration issues on the ST......just thinking out loud.....my thoughts my be way off base

I put over a 100,000 miles on one of Yamaha's higher reving V-4's, no detectable wear in the valve train on dino.
