Hi Everyone,

I am considering the purchase of a brand new 2012 in dealer stock at what looks like a very good price for an S10: 11,400. This is the OTD price. I would also get a 1,200 credit towards Yamaha extras, like side bags and mounts, etc.

I test rode a 2013 recently and really like the S10's handling and engineering (steel frames and spoke wheels and analog gauges are my preferences. I had an F800GS for 3 years, loved it, but was very glad to finally sell it this spring. If I wait beyond the end of the month 2 days away), I am told I will miss out on the 1200 credit.

Should I pass this up and keep looking, perhaps stay open to a 2013 or 14. I think that either of the newer models would cost me more $. I will report back with my decision in a few days.

Thanks for your opinions. Have a great day!

The 2013 is the same bike. The 2014 will cost lots more, but if you electronic cruise and suspension, that is the only way to get it. I bought a 2012 last year. Love it. That is a killer deal you are getting. Buy it quick. You won't regret it.

Hi George,

I appreciate you sharing your experience. I see you have a blue one, and I am partial to that color as well. Thanks very much for chiming in. I'll let you know what I decide to do.

I have a 2012, and I wouldn't spend more money on a 2013. That's a great deal on the 2012, and if you go that way, you're getting more than your money's worth.

But if it were me, I'd probably spend the extra money on a 2014.

The 2014 updates are very nice but I still think the engine/chassis package is very hard to beat no matter the year. And being able to get it with factory bags and such for $11,400 is a darn good deal. By the time you get the bags on a 2014 you'll be spending many thousands more.

Another vote for the '12. Awesome OTD price, and with the accessories credit, it's a no brainer. Like others have said, choose the '14 if you like the cruise, dash, windscreen, ES, engine refinement, ect. upgrades. The '13s are only different in the color.

This is my first post fellas so go easy.......I just purchased a Matte Black/Grey 2013 for a similar deal ($12,800 OTD + the $1200 +extra year warranty). I think your deal is fantastic so pull the trigger I say as others have mentioned its virtually the same bike mechanically. The $1200 spends QUICK, so have them give you 20% off whatever else you want in terms of options and roll it into the financing.

Very fun bike...Good Luck!

That's a very good deal, especially here in the Northeast. Jump on it.

Welcome Mrtngtrplayer,

No brainier on the purchase price, go for it. Sounds like the dealer just wants to clear out old new stock.

Many of us here have the '12 model and very happy with it. I am.

Good Luck on your new purchase.

I can't see any reason why you should not do that deal. A great bike for a great bike

That sounds like a jump on it immediately before someone else finds out about it. The '12 is a awesome bike, I should know, I made the same decision twice. The first one took some thought, the second one was done with zero hesitation. At your price, it's a true no brainer.

Don't think twice, it's all right. (To quote the Dylan tune.) Pull the trigger on that bad boy. I love my 2012 Super Ten!

Cheers,

Bruce
