Won't actually give you more power, will release what's there, and make the motor free, also less engine braking, whether that is a good or bad thing I'm not sure, for me, living amongst the Alps, I like the feel of the engine braking, just that little bit more of being 'in control'........

My bike runs perfect! Have you ever tried setting the CO. up to +18 or 20 on both cylinders?
I have not ridden a flashed Tenere. I would imagine that they run great also. I have spent some time on the 2014 Tenere [I can trade with Clint any time I want] and I like my bike every bit as much.
On that particular 272 mile stretch of great fuel mileage I would say it was because of slower speeds and higher altitude. I have gotten in the 50s several times 2 up when at high altitudes.
I have not, to be honest I would not know where to start. I have a great local bike shop, shortly after the purchase I took in for a minor warranty work (dropped it off for a few days). My buddy called me and we chatted about a few things. I emailed him the linky to our thread airscrew/off idle stumble and he did it for me. My bike no longer stumbles, I have thought about an after market can (sound weight only) and a flash. I was going to remove my CAT but I dunno..........I get into something from time, never did any complete any of the ideas I have looked into, well I did do the CJM.

I don have a complaint that we should be getting better mileage.

I purchased my 2015 S10 in August.
Managed to put 10.136 km on the clock before it went in to hibernation.

My bike is standard. I ride solo without panniers. I ride all kind of roads but mostly small 2 lane. I ride smooth but faster than most.

The average consumption (calculated) was 20,8 km/l - 4,8 l/100km - 49 US MPG.
Best mileage between fuel stops (I seldom refuel before it hit the reserve) was 24 km/l - 4,2 l/100km - 56,4 US MPG.
Worse mileage was 18 km/l - 5,6 l/100km - 42,3 US MPG.

Notes:
1. When the fuel reach the filler neck on fill-up it is possible to squeeze in almost another 2 liters (0.5 US Gallons).
2. The on-board fuel computer isn't very accurate. Indicated mileage is almost 10% optimistic. "RANGE" is... worthless.

The mpg is very dependent on (1) slow acceleration and (2) keeping the rpms low. Running around I'm I'm the 40s, but commuting I am regularly around 50+.

Those are calculated mpg figures, as the displayed mpg is optimistic for both generations of the bike.

I consistently see 52-53 mpg when I'm not stretching the throttle cable. Sustained engine speed (4000 rpm +) in top gear kills it rather quickly though.

I bought my 2013 ST last July with less than a 1000 miles on it and have since covered a paltry 2000 miles. I usually ride single without panniers, fairly quickly and always in sport mode with +18 CO and have never dropped below 50 MPG average according to the gauge. I am 5' 6" tall and weigh 11.5 stone.

The best I got on my bike is 19 kmpl. I seldom get a chance to ride long hours. If I rode for more than two hours, is be on the border to another country; Saudi or Oman. This seems pretty decent fuel consumption for the hot weather here. Since the weather is pleasant at the moment- 18-30°c I get about 300 kms on a full tank. While in the summers the temperature peaks 45-50°c, I get about 250 kms with a full tank.

I am running my bike under stock condition, stock tyres. I suppose it's the air and the fuel type matters as well.

I guess it consumes high fuel because the speed limits here are 140kmph and I cruise at those speeds on highways. Off the highways there is a lot of braking and hard acceleration.

I ride a 2014 standard. Occasionally 2up.

I have a 2013 and have tracked the fuel economy of every tank of gas I've put in the bike. I noted both the indicated MPG, and the calculated based off of the odometer/trip and gallons indicated by the gas pump.
The computer is almost always a few MPG optimistic.

Some of the best - Indicated (Calculated)
50.4 (47.07)
47.7 (46.65)
47.0 (44.96)

Worst:
39.9 (39.68)
41.2 (38.42)
43.9 (39.66)

Note that I run with the Yamaha side and top cases, and tall windshield.

On our 2015 trip to Alaska the three blue Teneres went 272 miles and need 5 gallons of fuel.
That would be better than 54 MPG. Loaded with gear
That is bizarrel I get around 200 miles out of my 2013 world crosser before the fuel indicator comes on and I start keeping an eye out for somewhere to fill up. I do have a top box (Givi V46NT) and I'm a lard-arse, but you get over a third more distance per tank than I do.

Am I being a wimp? How much is typically left when the light starts flashing?

Here in California, most of our gas contains ethanol. If I'm out of state, or fortunate to find a station without ethanol in the fuel, my mileage increases about 10%. Same for riding at higher altitudes.

I suppose if the conditions are just right ... and one is easy on the throttle, 270+ miles on a tank would be possible. I've never seen it.
