This spring I broke one of those plastic windshield mounts. You know those spears that stick up? Had it kludged up for the riding season with Gorilla Glue and zip ties but the glue has failed so all that is left is 2 zips and the support provided by the Madstad bracket.

Decided to replace the part so I looked at parts list and found the Stay Side one (or something) and ordered one. It seems that the windshield supports are part of a piece that I think everything on the front of the bike mounts to.

Anyone with experience disassembling the front to replace that part? Save the project for winter or is it fairly quick? Any bits of wisdom?

Fun times ahead ::015::

A number of people with crash damage have replaced it and yes, it is also the headlight and fairing mount.

Years ago when I lived in SoCal, we were blasting across the desert at illegal speed when I had a Vetter windshield break and swing back at my neck, pivoting from the side still somewhat attached. While I was able to catch it with my left hand and rode 1-handed to a stop, that is an experience I hope to never repeat.

I'm surprised at the low price for what it is. (<$100) When the Tenere goes out of production (hopefully in the very distant future) I'm seriously thinking about picking one up as a spare.
