Don't know why it's still a big deal, but anyway good to see an S10 up there..

It's the same old "has mid life crises, gets divorced, buys motorcycle Or buys motorcycle, gets divorced."

"Wild hogs" but instead of boars it's sows this time.

One of the ladies has impeccable taste though 8)

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/globe-drive/new-cars/motorcycles/taking-control-women-riders-shun-biker-chick-label/article2271331/

Wish there was more of this though

Canada hosts a women’s-only event called Garage Party in cities across the country. Attendees circulate through four workshops: motorcycle orientation, gear orientation, customizing a bike for proper fit, and the ever-intimidating lesson in how to pick up a motorcycle.

I used to like shed days, but bikes are reliable enough now that that many people just motor along until their spokes fall off. :(

Then there is this...

There's also a competitiveness among the men – sometimes they'll be nattering back and forth about whose bike is faster, and then as soon as we hit the highway, they’re racing down the road.”.
They got it all wrong.. I've never seen any discussion about which colour is faster on this site.. :D

Hey, I know the woman in the pictures! She is TrilliumLiz of this very forum.

The article, meh. It has the same plot as every women-in-motorcycling article, presented in a horribly disjointed fashion. I wonder if Kate Robertson had something more interesting to say but it was all left on the copy room floor? Perhaps the editors butchered it when they carved it down to the same old same old.

I'm sure Liz's book is better. I'll have to find a copy.

I remember her popping her head in here a few months ago. Good for her for making a new career/business out of her love of motorcycling. There is nothing like doing something you love for a living.

The rest of you, please calm down the sexist jokes. Let's keep things friendly and happy here for all.

Actually the wife knows Liz Jansen the girl with the S10. The wife also rides a 2000 Softail with 170000 km on it and its no big deal for her to do 1000 km days when we are on vacation. She is also the Road captain for her club. I think if I suck up a bit more she might let me go no the Whitehorse trip next year. :-[

All in all I thought the article was well written and done so in a positive light. Likely there was a fair amount edited out, but that is publishing. Always good to see a positive journalistic spin on motorcycling anywhere, and none more so than in mainstream media. As long as it is positive then lets have more of it, to fight the negative criticism that abounds from the many nay sayers, especially given the highly politicised biased views of a vocal minority.

Maybe she saw how we are and won't come back.

Like Groucho Marx said: " I wouldn't belong to an organization that had me as a member."

Lotta truth in that one...... ::018::

I think you nailed it! If I were a "real" woman like these girls who love bikes, I wouldn't hang where the guys whisper and play patty cake whenever I'm around. I'd use this forum as a source of ideas and possible solutions for problems and little else (I do that). As a social gathering place, it's pretty bland.

I doubt anyone really comes here for a social gathering. This is not Facebook (thank goodness)
