I'm about to pull the trigger on an aftermarket exhaust but I'm in between Arrow and Yoshimura Rs4.

I bought my bike 2nd hand and it came with an Akrapovic can, although it was prime quality etc. for me the main reason for an aftermarket exhaust is the sound, and to be honest Akra didn't had 1000$ + worth different sound from the stock so I sold it. ;D

Now I'm in between Arrow and Yoshimura Rs4. I was hoping that you can guide me on that matter.

What I want (as I hope that you understand from me selling the Akra) is something that can become louder when I'm in the mood of it. But also can be easily ridden for long distances with the wife on the back. If Akra had a removable baffle it might be a keeper.

I need something that sounds similar to Akra with the baffle in, but louder without being obnoxious without the baffle because when I'm not on long trips, I will mainly use it without the baffle so it shouldn't be like a dirt bike...

Thanks in advance for all the tips and opinions!

PS: I prefer deep tones ;)

I know this is an old one, but I have been looking at a Yosh pipe and I apparently have two options: a turn-out-tip and a s19. I don't know what these two mean, so if anyone can fill me in that would be great.

The S19 tip is the same as the one pictured in gryphon's post just above yours. I have the same Yosh on my S10 and if you install the muffler bracket properly (so the bracket is holding the muffler away from the bike), it causes no melting issues. I found mine for $316 shipped.

so, is that the s-19? and does anyone have the turn out? I might just have to call a yosh rep on this one. My price (work at a shop) is much lower. If I had looked at it earlier I would have done it right away.

turns out that one is a signature series, one is the race version. the signature series is EPA approved, and has a non removable baffle while the race version has no approval and has the same baffle as removable. This is per my phone call to Yosh.

I have aTwo Brother SS slip on and re packed last fall. Still to loud for riding without ear plugs. For you Yosh owners can you ride without plugs for a few hours or is it too loud?
Really want a quite pipe that does not cost $700!
Had a Remus Hex Core on my KTM 990 and it was just right.

I have my baffle removed and don't use ear plugs. With the baffle in it was too quiet IMO. I rode 480 miles last Saturday without ear plugs. I have a Icon Variant helmet for reference. The Yosh is not a loud muffler especially with the quiet insert in.

That is good news, it is a very cost effective muffler and always like them on rice burners! I will search out the best deal. Wish Jaxon sold Yosh.

Im interested in getting this slip on, but first I have a question. After adding the slip on has your mileage gone down? The bike gets such great mileage now, I just dont want to screw it up.

No change in mileage on mine. I have 6k miles through mine now. I did put the quiet insert back in recently just to change it up a bit. It sounds nice and mellow with the insert.

I never took the insert out and after riding tonight, don't know why I would. It sounds the awesome, although lower engine speed transient throttle leaves me to believe it is lean. I need to bump CO when I get a chance. What I can't understand is how the press keeps calling this engine "underwhelming". I get it, the 150hp super tall rockets that they compare it against go fast, and the bmw has a hp graph that looks like a child tuned the engine, but this bike rules. With the pipe, it is my favorite bike to have as an only bike. This may not mean much, but I ride a lot of different bikes as I work at a motorcycle shop in my free times and summers.
